Opportunity Overview
The Data Analyst I is responsible for providing actionable insights to support business decisions. They work in collaboration with the project team to understand the problem, define the approach, assemble the data, perform the analysis and generate insights, and present actionable information back to the business.
- Provide actionable insights to support business decisions, primarily by performing root cause, exploratory, sensitivity and scenario analysis, hypothesis testing, economic modeling, regression, and data visualization to identify patterns/trends/insights etc. on predefined problems
- Merge, cleanse and transform data from multiple sources as needed for analysis.
- Understand and apply basic statistical concepts.
- Apply critical thinking to pressure test and validate logic and outputs against known sources and understanding of business.
- Generate and incorporate insights into a cohesive story that clearly addresses business questions in partnership with others. Effectively communicate tailored messages to the business partners regarding analytic ideas, approach, key takeaways and actionable insights.
- Maintain a working knowledge of firm results & key business drivers and an understanding of key strategies & priorities of business to be able to apply business knowledge to analytic approach to address business questions.
- Build and maintain a working knowledge of data flows and data sources within relational databases.
- Develop and manage business relationships and partnerships with targeted business owners and within the department.
- Consult with business owners to understand the business problem. Collaborate with others to identify the appropriate analytic approach to solve the problem.
- Document, monitor, and proactively recommend improvements to processes and controls related to areas of responsibility.

Position Requirements
- 1+ year work experience
- Bachelor's Degree required with an emphasis in finance, business, economics, statistics, data science, math or analytics preferred. Relevant work experience will be considered.
- Experience interacting with database and file storage systems (Oracle, Hadoop, Snowflake, Databricks).
- Experience with data manipulation languages and analysis language (SQL, Python, R).
- Experience with data visualization tools (Power BI or similar tool)
- Experience analyzing data and creating data driven business insights.
- Some knowledge of statistical concepts and analytic techniques, including descriptive statistics, forecasting, economic modeling, various regression techniques, exploratory analysis, and variance analysis required

Salary Information
Edward Jones' compensation and benefits package includes medical and prescription drug, dental, vision, voluntary benefits (such as accident, hospital indemnity, and critical illness), short- and long-term disability, basic life, and basic AD&D coverage. Short- and long-term disability, basic life, and basic AD&D coverage are provided at no cost to associates. Edward Jones offers a 401k retirement plan, and tax-advantaged accounts: health savings account, and flexible spending account. Edward Jones observes ten paid holidays and provides 15 days of vacation for new associates beginning on January 1 of each year, as well as sick time, personal days, and a paid day for volunteerism. Associates may be eligible for bonuses and profit sharing. All associates are eligible for the firm's Employee Assistance Program.
