POSITION TITLE: LIFE ENRICHMENT COORDINATOR: COTTAGE LEAD
RESPONSIBLE TO: DIRECTOR OF WELLNESS/LIFE ENRICHMENT

SUMMARY:
This position works under the general supervision of the Director of Wellness/Life Enrichment to coordinate activities for the residents of St. John’s United.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION: Resident Responsibilities
Plans and coordinates activities for the residents
- Works as a team member to assure that the activities are challenging and meet resident’s social, and educational and spiritual needs
- Contact new residents and assess their abilities, needs and choices of activities
- Work cooperatively with other staff members to develop a monthly activity calendar for residents
- Attends and participates in Care Plans (only in skilled nursing departments)
- Leads two monthly Activity Committee meetings with residents (only in skilled nursing departments)
- Work cooperatively with other staff members to develop monthly activity calendars and bulletin boards for residents.
- Assist Director of Community Engagement with hiring of new Life Enrichment employees in Skilled in Memory Care Cottages
- Design and lead training for Skilled in Memory Care Cottages Life Enrichment team members, both new incoming staff and ongoing training for existing staff
- Schedule and lead monthly team meeting to share ideas and upcoming events, as well as team-building and celebrations
- Attend morning report and review daily staff reports from Cottages
- Attend monthly leadership meetings, as well as additional supervisor training
- Arrange monthly check-in meetings with each team member to offer suggestions, support, and calendar building
- Provide one activity in each cottage once per week
- Observe activities randomly to ensure quality and offer suggestions, ensure quality and offer suggestions to be inclusive of the 7 dimensions of wellness and implementation of cottage wide projects.
- Listen to nursing staff for ideas and concerns
- Coordinate with other departments such as Center for Generations, Volunteer Services, and Spiritual Care to schedule activities for all cottages
- Organize Cottage special events such as block party and holiday dinners
- Communicate with Director of Community Engagement about supply needs, organizational concerns, and performance reviews
- Assists Director with employee performance reviews and gives input and feedback.

Has daily contact with residents, staff members, volunteers and resident family members and guests.
Maintains relations between community members, visitors and families of residents and vendors

Keep activity area and storage areas clean and orderly

Follows policy and procedures on annual influenza vaccinations.

Requirements
REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum Requirements: Knowledge and skills acquired through completion of high school. Six months previous work experience in a similar setting is preferred.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities required:
- Must be knowledgeable about community resources, community events and other opportunities that will make the activity program interesting and challenging to residents
- Ability to develop, plan and coordinate activity programs independently
- Need to have the ability to work under time deadlines, manage time efficiently and work effectively with a variety of staff members, residents and other personnel
- Musically inclined and able to play a variety of instruments preferred.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Requires the ability to stand, bend, lift and walk for prolonged periods of time
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds on a regular basis and up to 50 pounds occasionally
