Hernando Animal Clinic and Surgery Center is looking for a Veterinary Assistant or Veterinary Technician to join our dedicated medical team!
- Monday – Friday: 7:30 AM – 5:30 PM
- Saturday: 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM
- Sunday: Closed

Your Role & Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians during examinations, diagnostics, and treatment
- Perform or assist with laboratory testing (bloodwork, urinalysis, fecal analysis, cytology, etc.)
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by veterinarians
- Monitor patients under anesthesia and assist with surgical procedures and recovery
- Perform or assist with diagnostic imaging (X-rays, ultrasounds, etc.)
- Provide comfort, care, and reassurance to patients throughout their visit
- Educate clients on preventive health, aftercare, and home care instructions
- Maintain accurate medical records, documenting treatments and clinical findings
- Prepare surgical areas and sterilize instruments to ensure safety and efficiency
- Assist with inventory management, equipment upkeep, and maintaining a clean, organized hospital
- Communicate effectively with team members and clients in a professional, compassionate manner
What We’re Looking For
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Associate’s Degree in Veterinary Technology or equivalent experience preferred
- 1 year of experience in a veterinary or animal care setting preferred (Assistants and Technicians encouraged to apply)
- Basic understanding of veterinary terminology, procedures, and animal handling
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Compassionate, patient, and professional with both animals and clients
- Ability to multi-task, stay organized, and remain calm under pressure
- Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) preferred, but not required
