Job Summary


The Member Engagement Specialist (MES) is responsible for onboarding, placing, and supporting volunteers and members within the Girl Scouts organization. This role integrates volunteer engagement strategies with membership placement processes to ensure a seamless experience for volunteers, troop leaders, and members. The MES will build relationships, enhance volunteer satisfaction, increase member retention, and ensure accurate data management and efficient troop placement.


The Member Engagement Specialist prioritizes diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging, and access to ensure delivery of the best quality Girl Scout leadership experience for girls. In collaboration with the Vice President of Mission Delivery the Member Engagement Specialist will exercise discretion and judgement with respect to matters of significance. 


This role will be in-person and will be based out of the Fort Worth or Southlake office.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities


Member Engagement & Support

  1. Onboards, places, and retains volunteers to support the Girl Scouts' mission and programs.
  2. Builds and maintains strong relationships with volunteers, ensuring they receive necessary resources, training, and support.
  3. Develops and implements volunteer appreciation and early renewal initiatives to enhance satisfaction and retention.
  4. Monitors and assesses volunteer performance, providing necessary guidance and support.
  5. Ensures compliance with Girl Scouts policies and procedures regarding volunteer engagement and management.
  6. Mentors new and existing members through the Girl Scout Leadership Experience (GSLE).


Member & Troop Placement

  1. Facilitates the placement of new girl and adult members into troops or other participation pathways.
  2. Converts prospective members into active participants through the lead conversion process.
  3. Proactively contacts prospective members via phone, email, and text to facilitate successful placement.
  4. Collaborates with Community Engagement Specialists and Service Unit Volunteers to understand and support local troop needs.
  5. Assesses troop availability and capacity to ensure optimal member-to-troop assignments.
  6. Communicates with troop leaders and families to ensure smooth onboarding and integration of new members.
  7. Maintains and updates records on troop placements, vacancies, and volunteer assignments.


Data Management & Reporting

  1. Utilizes Salesforce and Looker to track volunteer and member placement data.
  2. Analyzes trends in volunteer engagement and member placement to identify areas for improvement.
  3. Prepares reports on key metrics, including recruitment, retention, placement success rates, and engagement activities.
  4. Maintains confidentiality and accuracy in all records and communications.
  5. Conducts surveys to assess volunteer engagement and appreciation levels.
  6. Represents Girl Scouts at local events, fairs, and community meetings to promote membership and volunteer opportunities as needed.
  7. Works closely with internal teams to align recruitment efforts with troop placement needs.
  8. Provides ongoing support and resources to Service Unit teams and community volunteers.


Training & Development

  1. Conducts training sessions and orientations for new volunteers and troop leaders.
  2. Develops educational materials and workshops to enhance volunteer and member experiences.
  3. Implements continuous learning opportunities to improve volunteer effectiveness and leadership skills.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS - - Knowledge, skills, and abilities

  1. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in related field.
  2. Bilingual in Spanish, preferred but not required.
  3. Commitment to the mission and purpose of Girl Scouting.
  4. Membership in Girl Scouts organization.
  5. Must be willing to work with all people without regard to race, religion, ethnic origin, socio-economic status, sexual orientation, age, or disability.
  6. Experience in Salesforce is a plus.
  7. Proven ability to work with volunteers, community leaders, organizations, and businesses.
  8. Proven ability to effectively manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines and produce results.
  9. Ability to work a flexible schedule including travel, nights, and weekends.
  10. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  11. Verbal fluency, good grammar, and professional appearance.
  12. Have and maintain a valid Texas driver’s license in the state where the employee works/resides, an acceptable driving record, acceptable insurance, and reliable transportation.
  13. Must complete and pass a criminal background check, motor vehicle records check, and drug screening.
