General Description:
Duties are typically performed in a school setting, serving as a resource to classroom teachers.
Work requires frequent standing, sitting, walking, and light lifting up to 10 pounds. Effective
verbal and written communication skills for expressing or exchanging ideas, and hearing to perceive
information at a normal spoken word level and visual acuity for preparing and analyzing written
or computer data.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with teachers and administrators in selecting, planning the use of, and integrating digital tools into instructional activities to differentiate instruction and provide rigorous and relevant learning experiences for students, as well as in the development of technology-enhanced formative and summative assessments.
  • Differentiate support (individual/small group/whole staff) to meet staff needs through modeling, designing, and implementing technology-enhanced learning experiences.
  • Collaborate with content specialists and contribute to the development and execution of professional development throughout the district.
  • Assist building leadership in technology decision-making, professional development planning, and professional development facilitation.
  • Partner with school-based and/or community-based stakeholders in the school improvement planning process.
  • Train teachers in and model the use of online and blended learning, digital content, and collaborative learning networks to support and extend student learning.
  • Support a variety of digital tools and resources for teacher and student use in technology-rich learning environments.
  • Train teachers in and model the use of digital student information management systems and digital learning platforms/learning management systems to enhance student achievement.
  • Promote the use of digital collaboration tools to communicate locally and globally with students, parents, peers, and the larger community.
  • Provide meaningful professional development for teachers and administrators on new curricula and technology initiatives.
  • Develop and facilitate online professional learning experiences for staff that model best practices.
  • Collaborate and plan with other RPS staff to develop training materials, projects, and resources.
  • Train teachers in and model the use of digital citizenship best practices.
  • Model and promote strategies for achieving equitable access to digital tools and resources and technology-related best practices for all students and teachers.
  • Model and promote diversity, cultural understanding, and global awareness.
  • Collaborate with district leaders to create high-quality resources that promote equity to support district initiatives.
  • Engage in continuous learning to deepen professional knowledge and skills.
  • Performs other related tasks as required.

Qualifications:

  • Must possess a valid Collegiate Professional License with appropriate level endorsement, and have a minimum of three years of recent successful teaching experience.
  • Must have excellent communication, organizational, presentation, and facilitation skills. 
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with adult learners to support teacher growth.
  • Must have experience in professional development, conducting technology workshops, and creating and modifying curricular lessons and activities.
  • Must have knowledge of the Virginia Computer/Technology Standards.
  • Must have a strong knowledge of curriculum alignment and instructional design.
  • Must have the ability to model digital assessment and data-analysis best practices as they relate to informing instruction.
  • Must have a working knowledge of computer hardware, software, and peripherals, including document cameras, LCD projectors, and interactive whiteboards, G Suite for Education, Chrome OS, Student Information Systems, Richmond Public Schools Priority Online Resources, SMART Learning Suite, Content-specific online resources, and Clever.
