The City of Pearland, TX is seeking to hire a full-time Aquatics Maintenance Technician to lead and improve aspects of the day-to-day operations of our Parks & Recreation. Do you have the ability to effectively lead a team within a fast-paced setting? If so, you may be perfect for this position!

Our Aquatics Maintenance Technician earns a competitive hourly wage of $25.27- $27.35 based on qualifications and experience. Additionally, the city pays all premiums for our employees' dental, long-term disability protection, and life insurance, plus the majority portion of the medical premium for employees and their dependents. A DAY IN THE LIFE AS A AQUATICS MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN

The purpose of this job within the organization is to initiate, plan, develop and implement all operations of Aquatics Division, Position oversees operation and maintenance of the Pearland Natatorium, City splash pads and manages full and part-time aquatic staff.

This job works independently, under limited supervision, reporting major activities through periodic meetings.

Essential Functions:

  • Hires, trains, coaches, disciplines, advises and evaluates subordinate positions.
  • Prepare and effectively manage division budgets responsive to the needs of the community, maintain accurate records by monitoring revenues, expenditures and reimbursements, analyze and address cost recovery strategies. Develop and monitor performance measures, business plan and reports.
  • Prepare accident and incident reports as needed; and make recommendations for improvement. Keep accurate records of all reports.
  • Develop and coordinate large aquatic programs and events, including the coordination of operations and supervision with aquatics staff, vendors and partnerships
  • Direct and support aquatic technician to conduct filtration system operations, maintenance and repairs, operate maintenance equipment
  • Recruit, contract and manage aquatic rentals, tournaments, and partnerships. Work with school district, community groups and individuals in determining recreational needs and interests of the community, and establishing programs to meet such needs.
  • Recruits, trains, and manages the aquatic division including lifeguards, pool maintenance personnel, and instructional staff. Directs instructional inservices, responsible for mandated monthly professional development of aquatic staff per certification standards.
  • Monitors the effective allocation of resources and adherence to standards for the aquatic center, presents intent and recommendations to administrative staff.
  • Ensures design and delivery of aquatic programs and activities organized by staff are safe, active, supportive, and appropriate to the participants' age and abilities.

Special Certifications and Licenses:

  • Valid Texas Driver's License.
  • First Aid and CPR, required.
  • Certified Pool Operator, required.
    Lifeguard Instructor, required.
  • Water Safety Instructor, required or able to obtain within 6 months of employment.
  • Certified Parks and Recreation Professional (CPRP), preferred.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Organization and Administration of Health, Physical Education/Recreation, Aquatics, or a related field preferred.
