Surgical Technologist – Star Valley Health
Location: Alpine, WY
Job Type: Full-Time
Schedule: Monday-Thursday, 6:30am-4:00pm
Salary: Competitive, based on experience. Minimum compensation starting at $25.00 per hour

Position Summary
As a Surgical Technologist, you’ll play a vital role in supporting surgical procedures and ensuring a safe, sterile environment. You’ll work closely with surgeons, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities
Preoperative Duties:
- Prepare and maintain sterile fields
- Assist with gowning, gloving, and draping
- Set up instruments, supplies, and equipment
- Perform initial counts and verify surgical site
Intraoperative Duties:
- Maintain sterile technique
- Anticipate surgeon needs and pass instruments
- Assist with retractors, suctioning, and suturing
- Handle specimens and prepare instruments for sterilization
Second Surgical Tech Role:
- Support surgeon and surgical assistant during procedures
- Monitor patient comfort and assist with positioning
- Perform skin prep and apply dressings
- Operate and clean autologous cell-saver equipment
Sterile Processing & Support:
- Decontaminate and sterilize instruments and scopes
- Ensure equipment functionality and coordinate maintenance
- Pull supplies and coordinate with reps for specialty items
Additional Duties:
- Take call and respond within 15 minutes
- Participate in quality improvement and debriefing
- Assist with stocking and supply management

- Physically able to stand for long periods and lift/move up to 55 lbs
- Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination
- Comfortable working in high-pressure environments and irregular hours (including nights/weekends/on-call)
- Willingness to adapt to changes that improve patient care and facility operations
- Exposure to blood, body fluids, communicable diseases, chemicals, and radiation may occur
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or GED required
- Current BLS certification required
- Prior medical training and experience preferred
- Flexible schedule to accommodate call shifts
- CST certification (NBSTSA) or TS-C certification (NCCT) preferred
