Position Purpose
The primary purpose of this position is to assist Associated Credit Union in living out its Mission: To offer members financial products that fulfill their needs, service that exceeds their expectations, and relationships that inspire their trust.
The Consumer Loan Processor will offer a high level of communication and service to our membership through teamwork and commitment. Responsible for booking, funding and securing all documents necessary for closing consumer loans. Completing loan paperwork, disbursing loans to members and coordinating closings with the appropriate personnel. Executes and indexes miscellaneous paperwork. Maintains loan application files, answer processing telephone calls and tracks all functions related to vehicle titling. Provides professional support for loan research on behalf of members
Essential Functions & Core Duties
- Provides effective support for all phases of loan processing activities and promotions. Performs data entry and prepares all necessary documents for loan closings. Distributes loan paperwork to appropriate personnel and coordinates loan closings. Closes loans when necessary. Completes loan processing duties in accordance with established policies, procedures and regulations.
- Maintains application files and follows up on any gaps in appropriate documentation within a designated time period. Works with the Quality Control area with follow-up requests.
- Responsible for effective and professional business relationships with members, employees and external contacts. Resolves or refers member requests/research promptly and courteously. Answers member questions pertaining to loan corrections, adjustments and processing that are outside of an established workflow.
- Demonstrate effective coordination and communication with personnel and management. Assist in completing assigned paperwork for Management and Loan Sales Representatives. Maintain and complete departmental records and reports promptly and accurately. Attend and participate in meetings as required and keep management informed of area activities and any significant problems.
- Responsible for the essential duties required to perfect the vehicle title on an auto loan granted by ACU. Maintains a tracking database of all outstanding collateral documents and conducts active follow-up procedures to assure that all collateral documents are received promptly with the correct ACU lien holder interest recorded. Verifies collateral documents received with loan information, forwards for proper filing or takes action to correct detected errors. Reviews all incoming ACU loan sight drafts to determine their validity by the enclosed documents and decide if there is sufficient documentation to release the loan proceeds being held for disbursement. Assists and supplies members with necessary documentation for registration of vehicles and/or purchase of tags.
Other Duties & Responsibilities
- Maintains in depth knowledge of credit union products and services (rates, pricing, policies, etc.). Develop and continue to expand a sound understanding of member needs and uses of services and products.
- Maintains current knowledge of industry trends, opportunities, channels, products and services. Must develop a strong understanding of business processes and workflows for the business.
- Comply with BSA regulations when performing all job requirements and stay informed of updates/requirements of BSA/OFAC/CIP/MLA/Reg Z/REG B and any other compliance activities through completion of training courses assigned annually by the Learning and Development Department.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Consumer Lending, Senior Vice President of Lending or Consumer Loan Processing Supervisor.
Qualifications
Education: High school graduate or equivalent.
Experience: One to two years of varied office experience preferred.
