Summary of Responsibilities:

Bring your positive energy to ATC! We're looking for a Transmission Planning Engineer to be part of our collaborative team that assesses the present and future needs of the electrical grid. As part of our team, you’ll use electrical system models to determine the best approaches to helping the industry transition from reliance on traditional forms of generation to clean renewable resources, energy storage, and other types of emerging technologies and reliably integrate many new types of large loads.

Essential Responsibilities:

ATC is recognized as an industry leader in adopting new technologies and types of reliability analysis, such as electromagnetic transient analysis, to assure the reliable transition to sustainable resources, expand the transmission grid, and integrate new types of large loads. You’ll use your bachelor’s or advanced degree in electrical engineering (or related degree) and/or experience in transmission system planning to help new resources and loads connect to the system by coordinating with interconnection customers, validating modeling data, forecasting transmission system issues, and collaborating on solutions to optimize transmission system reliability and efficiency.

Additionally, this position will have a focus on dynamic and transient modeling and analysis of the transmission system for system planning purposes. This may include items such as:

  • Detailed transmission line modeling and analysis of EHV facilities in the PSCAD software for new projects
  • Analysis of Inverter-Based Resources, FACTS, and HVDC devices to ensure system performance criteria is met
  • Dynamic and transient analysis in support of various requirements and projects across system planning and in coordination with other impacted departments

The targeted base pay for this position is $125,200 to $146,100 annually.*  Base pay is one component of our comprehensive total rewards package which includes an annual incentive bonus, employer-sponsored pension plan, 401(k) match, HSA contribution, life & disability insurance, health care benefits, generous time off plans, flexible work arrangements, and much more
