About the Department

The Intelligence Analyst collects, analyzes, and disseminates intelligence information to support law enforcement operations and investigations. This role involves evaluating complex data from various sources to identify patterns, trends, and potential threats to public safety. The analyst will work closely with other law enforcement personnel, agencies, and the community to ensure the timely and accurate sharing of critical intelligence.

Position Duties

• Gather and evaluate information from various sources, including databases, surveillance, open-source intelligence, and field reports.

• Conduct a detailed analysis of criminal activities, including crime trends, patterns, and methods.

• Prepare and present intelligence reports, bulletins, and threat assessments to law enforcement personnel and other stakeholders.

• Provide actionable intelligence to support ongoing investigations and strategic operations.

• Liaise with local, state, federal, and international law enforcement agencies to share intelligence and coordinate efforts.

• Participate in multi-agency task forces and working groups (as required).

• Maintain and update intelligence databases and systems

• Must stay informed about emerging threats, intelligence methodologies, and best practices.

• Provide training and support to law enforcement personnel on intelligence-related topics.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Criminology, Intelligence Studies, or a related field is preferred but not required; equivalent practical experience in the field will be considered. A combination of education and a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in intelligence analysis or a related field is acceptable. Experience working in a law enforcement or military environment is highly desirable.
    Must obtain relevant certifications, such as Certified Intelligence Analyst (CIA) or similar certifications, within 18 months of being in the position.
