Responsibilities:

The Nutritionist will provide nutrition education and personalized guidance via private consultations, workshops, group presentations, published posts and more. Being a key part of the integrative team at Canyon Ranch, the Nutritionist will also collaborate with team members in areas such as Performance Science, Sports Medicine, Mental Health and Wellness, Food and Beverage, and Fitness. This role works closely within the Nutrition team to strengthen and advance the mission and practice of health, wellness and performance nutrition at Canyon Ranch. This is a unique opportunity to join a supportive, innovative team blending performance nutrition with holistic health and wellness to best support the goals of Canyon Ranch guests.

 
Guest Consults: 70%- Provide professional, quality nutrition counseling in the form of one-on-one guest consultations, lectures and group workshops. Accurately assess guest nutritional status including evaluation of health status, dietary history, goals; identify areas of nutritional risk and develop science-based personalized nutrition plans. Assess and evaluate complex medical tests and develop nutrition care plans; evaluate outcomes. Provide nutrition education to guests regarding nutrition principles, dietary patterns, food selection and preparation. Translate nutrition research into sound and practical food recommendations based on health, lifestyle and demographic data. Create and provide informative, dynamic lectures on nutrition following the Canyon Ranch philosophy. Incorporate guest survey feedback into lectures and provision of nutrition services. Make referrals for services at Canyon Ranch consistent with company standards. Communicate and collaborate with other H&H practitioners for continuity of care for guest.
 
Training, Programs and Lectures:  30% Perform administrative duties consistent with position. Actively participates in innovative program development, including consults, workshops, demos and lectures. Create and maintain evidence-based, appropriate guest education materials to supplement lectures and consults. Complete all documentation, inter-staff communication and follow-up for guest consults in a timely fashion. Participate in clinical and administrative meetings and committees as available and needed. Participate in menu development process as appropriate. Actively promotes self and the Nutrition department in appropriate interactions with guests and colleagues. Provide nutrition information for publication in cooperation with Sales and Marketing departments. Participate in appropriate internal and external training opportunities to remain current in the nutrition field; report information to colleagues. Provide training for Canyon Ranch staff when requested. 

 

Qualifications:

Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years clinical experience working with clients on various issues including weight loss, preventative nutrition, cardiovascular disease, diabetes and digestive disorders preferred.

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • possess a wellness background in a field of specialty relevant to Canyon Ranch's philosophy.
  • possess a clear understanding of current and trending nutritionist Food & Beverage concepts
  • possess an interest in and knowledge of good nutrition and healthy lifestyles.
  • skilled in Microsoft office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • demonstrate great communication skills both verbal and written, including public speaking, technical writing and lecture development skills.
  • possess a dynamic and effective training style.
  • excellent judgement and the ability to handle and maintain confidential information.

 

Certification/License: Registered Dietitian Certification or license in Arizona - Preferred Master's degree in Nutrition and Certified Nutrition Specialist (CNS), or Master's degree in Nutrition and Certified Clinical Nutritionist (CCN)
