In this role, you’ll be responsible for:

Spear Centre Support

  • You will form part of a central support team that enables Spear Centres to deliver high quality, high impact sessions to young people particularly when their Centre Manager is absent or in training.
  • You will use your experience of the Spear Programme and coaching to help to upskill other team members, and carry culture to newer regions, ensuring teams are supported and set up for success.
  • You will be placed where the support is needed most, working peripatetically across centres. This could look like 2 months based in one centre, or various days working across different centres both in London and across the UK.

Delivery of Spear Programme

  • As a coach you will support Spear coaches in London and across the UK to prepare and coach Spear Foundation group sessions and 1-1s, as well as from time to time preparing and delivering these sessions alongside them or in their place.
  • Quickly building relationships with coaches at different levels and in different regions, as well as with young people, modelling and managing culture and attitudes both in the training room and beyond.
  • Training coaches to adapt the Spear coaching material according to the needs of the trainees and manage behaviour effectively, and supporting Centre Managers and Lead Coaches to train new and more junior team members.

Line Management

  • Line management of 3 Development Coaches, working with the Head of Quality and Development to continually develop and upskill them, and effectively deploy them to centres where their support is most needed.

Active participation in and support for Resurgo’s team and mission

  • Help build and develop Resurgo’s ethos and Christian life as a team member including leading and contributing to daily team prayer meetings as an integral part of Resurgo’s operation and for the success of its mission.

Personal qualities we're looking for:

  • Extensive previous experience of delivering the Spear Programme and a desire to continue to use and further develop coaching skills.
  • A positive attitude and a heart for upskilling others and releasing their potential, no matter what challenging circumstances either colleagues or trainees may be facing.
  • Flexible and comfortable with change, and an ability to work with last minute changes and bring structure. Able to combine proactive leadership with a responsive and reactive approach.
  • Experience in line management and the ability to build rapport quickly. Effective interpersonal skills and high emotional intelligence with a sense of humour and fun.
  • Good administrative and organisational skills, working well under pressure with the ability to exercise initiative and prioritise workload.

A couple of things to note:

This role requires occasional evening work, for our termly Spear Celebrations (where we celebrate our trainees as they complete the initial six weeks of the programme).

In the event of a job offer, a DBS check will be requested.
