About The Role
Boldyn has engineered multi‑tenant Neutral Host platforms that host one virtual RAN tenancy per MNO and support 4G/LTE and 5G deployments across both Enterprise venues Connectivity-as-a-Service (CaaS) model and High‑Density Demand CaaS (HDD CaaS) venue scenarios like stadia, multi-purpose arenas, etc.
The RAN Architect is responsible for the end-to-end architecture, design authority, and lifecycle management of Boldyn’s multi-tenant Neutral Host platforms, which deliver virtualised 4G/LTE and 5G Radio Access Networks for enterprise and high-density venues. These platforms provide each Mobile Network Operator with a dedicated, secure tenancy, supporting seamless connectivity and service excellence.
This role leads the definition of high-level architectural frameworks, delivery processes, and network management best practices. Key responsibilities include optimising operational technology infrastructure for outstanding Quality-of-Service (QoS), ensuring service level excellence, and driving cost-efficient, scalable network design. The RAN Architect also oversees system capacity planning and network expansion strategies, ensuring Boldyn’s infrastructure remains robust, future-ready, and aligned with industry standards.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Lead the architecture and evolution of Boldyn’s multi-tenant Neutral Host RAN platforms, ensuring robust support for 4G/5G virtualised deployments across enterprise and high-density venues.
- Act as product owner for CaaS RAN (multi-vendor), HDD CaaS RAN (JMA XRAN), and Private Networks RAN solutions, driving roadmap, feature integration, and vendor alignment.
- Serve as design authority for all RAN elements, including eNodeB/gNodeB, Small Cells, gateways, and associated virtual network functions (VNFs).
- Own and maintain all architectural documentation, including High-Level Design (HLD), Low-Level Design (LLD), and Configuration Information Questionnaire (CIQ), ensuring alignment with industry standards and customer requirements.
- Define and enforce network performance management frameworks, overseeing KPI monitoring, SLA adherence, and optimisation strategies at both network-wide and site-specific levels.
- Establish and govern network configuration management practices, including parameter audits, feature trials, and change control across the RAN estate.
- Provide Tier 3 Service Management expertise, supporting incident resolution, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Manage Self-Organising Network (SON) settings and policies, leveraging automation to enhance network efficiency and resilience.
- Define the best practices to operate and optimise virtualised network functions (VNFs), ensuring seamless orchestration, scaling, and lifecycle management within the RAN domain.
- Collaborate with Technology teams dedicated to: NMS development; Data Engineering; Data Science; and AI; to drive automation and closed-loop optimisation of network management processes.
- Work closely with the Network Operations Centre (NOC) and R&D teams to define, implement, and refine maintenance and operational procedures that underpin system-wide performance.
- Continuously optimise network performance, leveraging real-time analytics, customer experience metrics, and support system feedback.
- Manage technical engagement with the partner ecosystem, including MNOs, technology vendors, and service providers, ensuring effective communication and alignment on delivery and operational models.
- Work in close articulation with IP architects to define transmission requirements, select appropriate technologies (e.g., private leased lines, Ethernet services, IPsec VPNs), and ensure seamless integration with the overall network architecture.
- Specify and validate transmission topologies, including redundancy, failover, and capacity planning for high-availability service delivery.
- Oversee the implementation of traffic segregation and security controls across transmission links, in line with JOTS/NHIB standards and Boldyn’s cyber-security policies.
- Support troubleshooting and performance optimisation of transmission networks, collaborating with cross-functional teams to resolve issues and enhance service quality.
What You’ll Bring
- Knowledge of 3GPP technologies (primarily 4G and 5G)
- RAN Architecture, emphasis on Interfaces and Protocols
- RAN Capacity Management, Feature and Parameter trial
- Performance and Configuration Management
- Defining and implementing processes for Performance reporting
- Lab testing experience for First-Site Integration (Not mandatory, but highly beneficial)
- Troubleshooting RAN and RF issues
- Experience working within MNO’s organisations
- Working knowledge of MNO’s processes and activities
- Layer 3 (Drive Test) analysis
- Knowledge of end-to-end mobile network architectures
- Knowledge about RAN interworking with Core Networks.
