Position Summary:


Crossroads Charter Schools is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Part-Time Accounting Support
Contractor to oversee the company ledger, organize accounting documents, assist with company payroll, prepare and distribute checks to employees and vendors, create and manage purchase orders and invoicing process, and attend meetings with the team.  This role will support the Finance Department by ensuring accurate processing of invoices, maintaining financial records, and managing billing and collections processes.



This is a 12-month non-exempt (hourly) position.

Position Responsibilities:



  • Payroll 
    • Reconcile payroll liabilities 
    • Processing payroll and maintaining the employee database regarding salary and pay
    • Customer Service (assist employees as needed) 
    • Maintain accurate records of all payroll liabilities activities.
  • Accounts Payable:
    • Process and verify invoices and purchase orders.
    • Ensure timely payment of bills and vendor invoices.
    • Reconcile accounts payable transactions and resolve discrepancies.
    • Maintain accurate records of all accounts payable activities.
  • Accounts Receivable:
    • Prepare and send invoices to customers and clients.
    • Monitor and follow up on outstanding receivables.
    • Reconcile accounts receivable transactions and resolve discrepancies.
    • Maintain accurate records of all accounts receivable activities.
  • Grant Support Duties:
    • Budget Monitoring to include tracking expenditures and revenue
    • Manage grant-related financial data
    • Prepare reimbursements
    • Collaborate with other departments to maintain financial records
  • General Financial Duties:
    • Assist with month-end and year-end financial closing processes.
    • Prepare reports and financial statements as needed.
    • Support audits and compliance requirements related to accounts payable and receivable.



Perform other related duties as assigned.


Skills and Qualifications:



    • Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
    • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in accounts payable and receivable preferred.
    • Proven experience in payroll, accounts payable and receivable roles.
    • Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word).
    • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Strong communication skills and ability to handle sensitive financial information.
    • Prior experience in an educational or non-profit environment is a plus.

    • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills and an ability to keep multiple stakeholder groups, including parents, teachers, staff, volunteers and partners, informed of critical issues, activities and schedules.

    COMMUNICATION: Maintains communication with teachers, other school personnel, and parents/guardians to enhance cooperative action which will meet the educational needs of students.

    Compiles data for statistical purposes.

    Maintains confidentiality regarding financial records.

     

    ORGANIZATION: Must be able to organize work/lesson plans in a manner understandable to the appropriate audience/customer.                         

    Utilizes existing technology effectively in the performance of duties.

    REASONING ABILITY:  Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

     

    LANGUAGE SKILLS:  Ability to read and analyze and interpret general professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, general curriculum and learning theories, correspondence, and protocols.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of administrators, staff, parents, students, and the general public.


    ANALYTICAL ABILITY:  Must be able to utilize
    critical thinking, data analysis, problem-solving, research and find logical solutions.
