JOB SUMMARY
The primary purpose of your job position is to assist a licensed therapist in planning, organizing, developing, and directing therapy services in accordance with current applicable federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations, as may be directed by the Administrator, to assure that the highest degree of quality patient care can be maintained at all times.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Assist licensed therapist in planning, developing, organizing, and directing physical, occupational therapy, its programs, and activities.
2. Meet with administration, medical and nursing staff, as well as other related departments in planning therapy services.
3. Select rehabilitative and therapeutic activities and exercises based on the medical necessity of the resident.
4. Maintain accurate documentation on all residents and comply with Federal and State guidelines.
5. Other related duties and responsibilities that may become necessary or appropriate to meet the administrative needs of the facility.
6. Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications
Education & Experience:
- Must have completed a two-year program in Physical or Occupational Therapy Assistant from an accredited college or university.
- Must have as a minimum, two (2) years’ experience in a therapist assistant capacity in a hospital, skilled nursing care facility or other related medical facility.
- Training in rehabilitative and restorative therapy practice
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Skills, Abilities & Competencies:
1. Must possess a valid and current license in this state
2. Must be able to read, write and speak the English language
3. Possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action
4. Possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and public
5. Knowledge of therapy procedures
6. Possess leadership ability and the willingness to work harmoniously with professional and non-professional personnel
7. Ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, procedures, etc., of the therapy services
8. Maintaining the care and use of supplies, equipment, etc., and maintaining the appearance of therapy areas
9. Must have patience, tact, cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm, as well as be willing to handle residents based on whatever maturity level, they are currently functioning
10. Possess the ability to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing practices
