PUTNAM COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT PRE-K ASSOCIATE JOB DESCRIPTION QUALIFICATIONS: (1) High school or equivalency. (2) Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or equivalency, or an Associate Degree in Early Childhood. (3) Satisfactory criminal background screening. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: (1) Good Communication skills. (2) Prior experience working with at-risk populations. (3) CPR and First Aid training. (4) Prior experience in early childhood education (5) Considerable knowledge about child development and appropriate activities for young children (6) Ability to relate to children and parents from a variety of backgrounds. (7) Ability to plan and implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum for pre-school students. REPORTS TO: Principal Pre-K Resource Teacher JOB GOAL To create a flexible pre-kindergarten program and class environment favorable to learning and personal growth of students: to motivate students to develop communication abilities, attitudes, skills and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for further participation in the total school program. In accordance with each student’s ability; to build strong ties between home and school; to establish good relationships with parents, other adults and staff members. SUPERVISES: N/A PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: (1) Provide direct supervision of preschool students. (2) Plan, implement and evaluate classroom-learning activities. (3) Access individual learning needs by observation, assessment instruments and anecdotal records. (4) Develop and maintain a classroom environment conducive to learning. (5) Organize and manage daily center activities based on developmentally appropriate practices for young children. (6) Provide opportunities for parent training activities that will reinforce learning experiences for children and enhance life for families. (7) Actively participate in staff development attendance in workshops, conferences and district in-service. (8) Attend Prekindergarten instructional staff meetings. (9) Maintain accurate attendance records. (10) Establish and maintain high standards of classroom behavior consistent with district and school center policies. (11) Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities. (12) Maintain and promptly submit accurate, complete and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulations. (13) Assist in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations and board policy. (14) Make provisions for being available to students and parents for education related purposes outside the instructional day when required, or requested. (15) Attend and participate in faculty meetings. (16) Work to establish and main open lines of communication with students and the parents concerning both the broad academic and behavior progress of all assigned students. (17) Establish and maintain cooperative relations with others. (18) Other responsibilities as directed by his/her immediate supervisor PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
