- Knowledge of aggregate QC and aggregate production operations is preferred. Perform TXDOT SB101 and source specific, coarse and fine aggregate tests. Familiarity or quickly become familiar with aggregate and Flex Base specifications to determine product compliance.
- Effective problem solver and team-oriented decision maker. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software (i.e. Outlook, Excel, Word) is required.
- Establish and maintain effective communications within all areas of the QC and Production departments.
- Perform regular inspections for safety, housekeeping and QC in associated areas of the operations.
- Understand and apply all safety rules, regulations and procedures of mine and property as set forth by company policies applicable to MSHA and other safety entities.
- Occasionally volunteer to serve on the plant safety committee. Attendance and participation in daily/weekly tailgate or other safety meetings.
- Participation in Guardian Angel upstream activities (i.e. observations and safety suggestions).
- Assist management in inventory surveys focusing on stockpile quality dispositions. Identify and mark COA, TXDOT or related approved stockpiles. Assist in publication of approved stockpile report and location.
- Demonstrate a positive, upbeat attitude and energy level toward teammates, peers, and customers.
- Daily use of Stonemont QC software, including statistical analysis for target or specification compliance and test reporting to customers.
- Responsible for maintaining quality of all products, including immediate notification of non-compliances and proposed solutions.
- Minimum of high school-level arithmetic proficiency, including multiplication, division and simple percentage computations. These must be performed daily in the course of work.
- Assist with and recommend equipment repairs or testing needs.
- Other duties as required.
- Ability to attain certifications for TXAPA Agg 101 and SB101 within first 12 months.
- 1-3 years aggregate testing experience or construction inspection and related materials testing.
- Certification as ACI Aggregates Grade 1 Technician, TXAPA Agg 101, or SB 101 is preferred but not required at beginning of employment. However, employee must be able to attain two of these certifications within the first 12 months of employment.
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience required.
- Must maintain a valid TX driver’s license.
- Must be able to perform basic arithmetic along with high school level algebra calculations.
- Effective coordination and communication skills (written and verbal)
- Understand team-based management, especially with team and individual safety.
- Self-starter with initiative and ability to work safely with limited supervision.
- Previous aggregate QC or construction materials testing experienced is preferred.
- Ability to service multiple projects simultaneously, often with changes in priorities.
- Ability to travel safely by company vehicle or other commercial means. Less than 5% overnight travel is required.
- Must be able to work some weekends if required.
- Flexible Work Hours, which will range from 8 to 12 hours a day depending on plant schedule or workload.
- Must be able to perform duties in a consistent, safe manner. This job requires the ability to wear a hard hat, safety glasses, steel-toed boots, gloves, hearing protection and other required PPE.
- Must have hand-eye coordination, balance, and ability to safely collect and process samples.
- Must be able to climb stairs to a height of 50 ft. and work for short duration at this height.
- Must be able to follow company Basic Safety Rules, MSHA requirements, and other policies regarding safety.
- Ability to operate hand-held radio, computer and lab equipment as required.
- Must be able to bend, stoop, climb and reach all areas of equipment, always utilizing 3 points of contact.
- Lift up to a maximum of 60 lbs.
- Must be able to walk across steep/rough terrain.
- Ability to use hand tools such as shovels, wrenches, screwdrivers, etc.
