Job Overview

The Supervisor of Eligibility and Section 504 Services is responsible for the leadership and supervision of the special education eligibility processes and Section 504 services across the school division and collaborates with the eligibility coordinators, school designees, and student services staff to support procedural compliance and accountability around the implementation of federal and state regulations.  

 

 

Roles and Responsibilities

The following information is intended to describe the overall nature and scope of the work being performed. This is not a comprehensive listing of all responsibilities or tasks; work may differ and other work may be assigned when deemed appropriate.

  • Supervises the implementation and compliance of Virginia special education regulations related to child find, referral for evaluation, evaluation, eligibility, and reevaluation, and independent educational evaluations
  • Supervises the implementation and compliance of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act related to child find, identification, evaluation, educational placement, discipline, and dispute resolution processes     
  • Assists the Director with supervising, evaluating, leading, and supporting the Eligibility Coordinators and administrative support personnel
  • Collaborates and works with Student Services administrators, including Special Education Administrators who oversee evaluators, the preschool child find program, and special education to coordinate operations and ensure procedural compliance with federal and state requirements
  • Manages the collection and analysis of data to improve outcomes and monitor compliance across the division and in every school 
  • Leads professional learning for LCPS staff groups, varying in size
  • Leads the administration of the special education case web-based management tools
  • Performs other related work as required
  • Responsible for the recruitment, hiring, training, supervision and evaluation of educational diagnosticians 




Qualifications

Below are the minimum qualifications for this job. Equivalent combinations of education and experience are also acceptable.

 

     Education
     Master’s Degree

 

     Experience

     Five (5) years of successful experience in special education or related field

 

     Licenses and Certifications

     Holds or is eligible for a Pupil Personnel Services License or Postgraduate Professional License with endorsements in one or more areas of Special Education; administrative endorsement and/or special education leadership certificate 

 

     Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent professional and personal characteristics and oral and written communication skills necessary for working effectively with school personnel, administrative staff, and community members
  • Excellent skills in group facilitation processes, with emphasis on conflict analysis and resolution approaches to improve group communication

Salary Level: Universale Level 23

Salary Scale: https://www.lcps.org/compensation

Salary Range: $121,888- $194,237
