District Driver Education Coordinator (Internal only)

Position Purpose:
The District Driver Education Coordinator is the head district-level facilitator that supports and instructs other Regional Driver Education Facilitators and district instructors.They design, implement, and sustain district driver education procedures. They support the District Driver Education Curriculum Director in the design, implementation, and sustaining of district policy. In this capacity, the person in this role reports to the District Driver Education Curriculum Director.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities
Ensures that all district driver education instructors properly use the Driver Education Management System (DEMS), DriverEd Solution Scheduling software, and provide necessary support when necessary.
Organizes at least two regular district Driver Education Instructor Meetings annually for all classroom and drive instructors. And ongoing meetings, as necessary, for all classroom instructors.
Available to respond to needs of the district driver education program (from district DE instructors, district and school leaders, DLD, and USBE) within 24 hours. Availability may include school days, before and after school, weekends, and holidays, as necessary.
Responds in less than two school days to all escalated concerns and issues from Regional Driver Education Facilitators and escalates concerns to the District Driver Education Curriculum Director when necessary.
Creates and Updates documentation and district website for driver education to provide students, families, principals, and instructors with necessary information.
Reviews and approves the timecards and BTW Records of all Behind the Wheel instructors and submits them to the District Office for payment.
Creates and Proposes Regional/School Level budgets for driver education materials and resources.
Approves reasonable purchases at a school-level for all materials and resources necessary for Driver Education Instructors in the district between $100 and $500; all purchases greater than $1000 must be pre-approved by the Driver Education Curriculum Director.
Organizes and submits instructional materials request to the Utah State Board of Education for each region.
Tracks the age and rotation of all District Driver Education vehicles and makes requests with the district curriculum director for new vehicles, as necessary.
Supports the District Online Driver Education Teacher with updates to the state online course annually, meeting all requirements from USBE.
Supports the completion of Vehicle Accident Reports when necessary and works with the transportation department to submit documentation to notify the insurance company.
Supports the recruitment and interview process of new driver education instructors with the facilitators.
Keeps record of driver education instructor endorsement requirements to ensure district instructors remain properly certified (including CPR, DEMS training, annual UDTSEA conference, etc.)

USBE Professional License
USBE Professional License Area: Elementary Teaching, Secondary Teaching, CTE, Special Ed, Counseling, or Admin
USBE Professional Endorsement: Driver Education
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
Knowledge of effective driver education teaching methods and pedagogy in classroom and behind the wheel instruction
Knowledge of Driver Education rules, regulations, policies, and procedures for State and TCSD
Ability to clearly communicate expectations, procedures, and policies to students, parents, principals and instructors
Ability to use computer systems and software application to communicate with students, parents, principals, and instructors
Strong organization skills to keep the program running smoothly and efficiently
Attention to detail to ensure that district system, policies, and procedures are in alignment with state requirements
Ability to respond to needs and concerns of students, parents, and instructors
Contract:
Ongoing contract based on annual evaluation of service by District Driver Education Director. Includes up to a 3 year provisional period.
Teacher Payment Model: $3000 annual stipend AND either 1/8 class preparation period (if approved by school principal) or equivalent payment of that time after school (if scheduling space is not available or approved by school principal)
Start Date: January 5, 2026 (Transition Period - $1500 stipend will be provided for half year-Jan-June 2026). Full position will start in Summer 2026.
