POSITION SUMMARY:

The cheer instructor will plan, develop, and implement cheer program curriculum. This position requires face-to-face leadership in these programs and may involve early morning, evening, and weekend responsibilities.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Supervises and instructs cheer.
  • Develops and leads weekly lessons to ages 4 years old - adult
  • Prepares any additional materials needed for classes or camps
  • Maintain records of student attendance and payments
  • Provides handouts, sends letters or email, and other resources to students and or parents as necessary
  • Provides outstanding member service 
  • Promotes programs in the community as outlined by supervisors
  • Actively involved in student retention 
  • Conducts student evaluations and provides profession opportunities

Performs any other functions necessary for the smooth and efficient operation of the YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids Association.


COMPENSATION

$20 - $24.71 ; Part-Time, Non-Exempt  (up to 25 hours per week)

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

One year or more related experience in cheer programming and instruction; or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience required. 


CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATION

  • State of Michigan criminal background clearance (ICHAT)
  • Blood Borne Pathogen training
  • CPR Certification required within the first 90 days
  • First Aid Certification required within the first 90 days

  • Position may require bending, leaning, kneeling, and walking.
  • Ability to speak concisely and effectively communicate.


TRAVEL:

0-5% of local travel within the state of Michigan; occasional out-of-state travel may be required for educational conferences or training.
