Qualifications:
- Certified Law Enforcement Officer through North Carolina Justice Academy
- Experience in law enforcement preferable
Essential Job Functions:
- Ensures the safety and wellbeing of students and faculty at their assigned schools
- Provides training to students and staff on lockdown procedures, safety, drugs and gangs
- Maintains a safe learning environment for all students, teachers and staff
- Confronts any threat that may appear on campus; authorized to make arrests
- Investigates potential criminal acts occurring on campuses and maintains respective case files
- Accepts responsibility as the only acting law enforcement on the property
- Provides and appoints, as necessary, any law enforcement presence required at sporting events and extracurricular activities
- Acts proactively in dealing with situations that require security/law enforcement involvement as they arise
- Serves as a liaison between the school and other law enforcement agencies, including the courts and social services
- Independently determines daily work schedule, exercises discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance
- Advises school administrators on how to improve safety at their schools
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor
Physical and Cognitive Requirements:
The major physical and cognitive requirements listed below are applicable to this job classification within Moore County Schools.
Work in this classification is considered medium physical work requiring the exertion of up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Must be able to:
