Job Summary:

Compliance Management International is looking for a Battery Safety Engineer with 3-5 years' of experience in an electrical vehicle battery manufacturing environment for a 7 month project.

The Battery Safety Engineer is responsible for defining and implementing safety measures and regulatory compliance for the manufacturing equipment of battery production. This position requires a deep understanding of battery safety and regulatory requirements.

Job Description:

  • Ensure battery systems comply with safety standards and regulations, including but not limited to UN38.3, ISO 26262, NFPA, 29 CFR 1910, and other relevant industry standards.
  • Conduct safety assessments and risk analyses to identify and address potential safety issues
  • Develop and maintain safety documentation, including safety plans, hazard analyses, and safety cases
  • Collaborate with regulatory bodies and agencies to ensure compliance with regional and international standards
  • Collaborate with external partners, suppliers, and testing agencies to ensure alignment with safety standards
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to battery safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Prepare and submit documentation required for regulatory approvals and certifications

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, chemical engineering, or related field
  • 3+ years’ experience in battery safety engineering, preferably in the electric vehicle industry
  • In-depth knowledge of safety standards and regulations, emergency preparedness and response, and best practice storage requirements related to battery systems
  • Application of process safety through risk assessment and analysis means
  • Working knowledge with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001

General Requirements:

  • Must be self-motivated and able to problem solve complex situations while utilizing available resources
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; particularly with technical information that must be conveyed in a clear and convincing way
  • Exhibit strong problem-solving capabilities
  • Willing to work overtime as deemed necessary by the company

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to walk, stand, or climb ladders/stairs for extended periods within an industrial plant environment.
  • Must be able to wear required PPE including respirators, hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, steel-toe boots, and hearing protection.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs occasionally.
  • Work in both indoor and outdoor conditions, including temperature variations and exposure to dust, fumes, and chemical substances.
  • Must be able to respond to emergency situations, including alarms, spill response, and evacuation procedures.
