Job Overview

We are seeking a business-minded legal professional to join the Funds Group. This individual will be a legal and regulatory subject matter expert for the derivatives-trading activity of our sponsored funds and a key member of the Funds Legal team. This role requires a working knowledge of certain derivatives, including the applicable regulatory frameworks and market practices. This role has significant opportunities for professional development, working alongside a team of attorneys and other professionals within the Funds Group.

The Funds Group

Arrowstreet sponsors a number of pooled investment funds, each managed according to one of our offered investment strategies. The Funds Group within Arrowstreet is a team of experienced professionals responsible for managing the formation, development and oversight of these sponsored funds.

Responsibilities

  • Provide substantive legal advice and related support on a variety of legal and regulatory topics related to certain derivatives, with a particular focus on the following areas:
    • FX forward contracts
    • Equity swaps
    • Futures contracts
  • Draft and negotiate International Swaps and Derivatives Association (ISDA) agreements, prime brokerage agreements, futures customer agreements, and related documentation
  • Support fund launches and ongoing fund administration, such as:
    • Fund formation of various private fund structures in various jurisdictions
    • Fund document review, issues identification and maintenance of internal records
    • Onboard trading-related service providers, such as FX counterparties, FCMs and prime brokers
  • Work directly with members of the investment teams at Arrowstreet, as well as directly with external trading counterparties on legal and regulatory matters

Qualifications

  • J.D. degree from an accredited institution
  • Must be a member in good standing of the Massachusetts state bar
  • 7+ years of relevant experience, including experience at an established investment manager, financial institution or law firm.
  • Working knowledge of trading-related legal documentation (e.g., ISDAs and prime brokerage agreements) and experience with the legal and regulatory landscape of OTC derivatives.

The base salary range for this position is $150,000 - $291,000 per year.

The determination of a successful candidate’s base salary placement within the listed range will vary based on the candidate’s relevant experience and qualifications (which may also include relevant certifications, credentials and other education), the job responsibilities and scope, the commensurate resulting level of the position and other relevant factors. The listed range is also an estimate, and additional information regarding base salary and other elements of total compensation offered by Arrowstreet Capital to successful applicants will be communicated during the recruitment process.
