Grounds Maintenance Worker (full-time with FREE benefits) presso Huntington Beach Union High School District

DEFINITION: Under general supervision performs varied grounds, custodial and general maintenance duties; and performs related work as required. SOME EXAMPLES OF DUTIES: Maintains, cultivates, and prunes landscaped areas; prepares and fertilizes soil, plants, and variety of vegetation; sprays landscaped areas with insecticides, pesticides, and herbicides for insect, pest, and weed control; installs, adjusts, repairs and replaces PVC and galvanized irrigation piping, components, and sprinklers; and sets clocks; performs routine work in the preparation, lining, marking, burning, and dragging of athletic fields or related areas.; performs general maintenance duties such as repairing fences, painting, and sandblasting to remove graffiti as necessary; resurfaces asphalt; mixes and pours cement; installs athletic equipment.

 

 

Employees are eligible for a step increase on their salary anniversary date each year, up to the maximum step 5 of this salary range.

This is an Open and Promotional recruitment. The current position is located at Fountain Valley High School. The tentative work schedule is Tuesday through Saturday, 5:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. The eligibility list will be valid for one year and used to fill the current open positions and used for future vacancies throughout the District during that time span. Final selection of appointees will be made from the top three ranks who are “ready and willing” to accept an assignment.
