About Restless Development
Restless Development supports the collective power of young leaders to create a better world. We are independently registered and governed in nine countries (India, Nepal, Sierra Leone, Tanzania, Uganda, UK, USA, Zambia and Zimbabwe) We run the Youth Collective – a growing network of over 5,500 local youth-led organisations in 185 countries. We are committed to creating an agency that walks the talk on power shifting, using the power shifting checklist, both internally and externally.

Youth Power is at the heart of Restless Development. It is the collective force of young leaders to create a better world. Every year we support over a quarter of a million young leaders. We multiply young leaders by providing new opportunities, mentoring and resources to make lasting change. The use of our communications is imperative to championing, celebrating and connecting young leaders, and creating a world where Youth Power can thrive.
Our Communications is key to strengthening youth power, engagement of young leaders everywhere,
especially in the majority world, as well as strengthening the visibility and profile awareness of Restless Development with partners and funders. This role will enable young leaders to create communications content for and by young leaders.

Our approach to safeguarding
Restless Development considers the welfare and protection of children, young people and vulnerable adults to be an organisational imperative with primacy over the success of programmes or strategic objectives. We recognise that safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility and we expect all of our staff, volunteers and partners to ensure we protect the communities in which we operate from harm and abide by our Safeguarding Policy.

About the Project
What it Means to be a Young Man Today” is a cross-cultural youth-led initiative implemented by Restless Development UK and Restless Development Nepal, supported by the British Council’s Youth Connect Collaboration Grants 2025.

The project explores and promotes positive masculinities—challenging harmful gender norms and fostering empathy, accountability, and peace among young men in England and Nepal. In both countries, young men face growing pressures linked to online polarisation, migration, and social inequality. This project empowers them to redefine what masculinity means in their communities through storytelling, peer learning, and creative action.

At its heart, the project is about youth leadership, dialogue, and connection—bridging cultural divides and nurturing young changemakers who champion gender equality and social cohesion.

The project’s key objectives are to:

  1. Equip young people with practical skills that enable them to promote Positive Masculinity in their communities
  2. Enable youth-led community action in Newcastle and Madhesh to challenge harmful masculine norms and promote positive, inclusive models of manhood rooted in empathy and equality.
  3. Host a virtual youth Hack with the Global Youth Collective network to design a campaign action on Positive
  4. Masculinity to be launched on International women’s day.
