ACCOUNTABILITIES:
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Case Management Supervision
- Supervises the Housing and Support Services Caseworkers to ensure effective case management for shelter and transitional housing clients.
- Conducts weekly check-ins with Caseworkers to review case management documentation, such as the completion of intake forms, case notes, referrals, and regularly scheduled client-Caseworker meetings.
- Monitors casework documentation to ensure it meets accreditation standards. This includes quality control and oversight of Caseworker entries in the Case Administration Management System (CAMS) and Homeless Individuals and Families Information System (HIFIS).
- Provides regular reports to the Manager of Housing and Support Services on casework completion, ensuring compliance with timeliness and quality expectations.
- Offers feedback on client goals and progress during one-on-one meetings with Caseworkers and team case conferences, ensuring appropriate interventions and referrals as needed.
2. Leadership and Staff Development
- Provides leadership, training, and mentorship to Caseworkers, fostering professional growth and development.
- Supports Caseworkers in crisis intervention and de-escalation strategies.
- Assists Caseworkers in managing difficult situations, resolving conflicts, and maintaining professional case management standards.
3. Program Quality and Compliance
- Supports the Manager of Housing and Support Services in ensuring case management practices comply with internal policies and procedures, funding requirements, and relevant legislation.
- Monitors and evaluates case management practices at the ARC in the Housing and Support Services department to enhance program effectiveness, including making recommendations to the ARC management team.
- Ensures Caseworkers maintain accurate documentation and reporting in accordance with organizational and funder guidelines.
4. Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement
- Works closely with ARC accommodations-based programs and collaborates with external service agencies to assist Caseworkers in obtaining information, support, and services in the community for ARC clients
- Advocates for Caseworkers and ARC clients by facilitating access to housing, social services, and other community resources.
Written and Verbal Communication
- Maintains effective communication with the management team, staff, and clients, ensuring that case management concerns are addressed quickly and efficiently.
- Documents staff concerns, feedback, and implements process changes. Completes reports as required for the effective operation of the department.
- Identifies and documents issues and problems, and presents options for mitigation and/or recommendations for efficiency improvements to management.
- Supports the team in understanding and embracing changes in the department’s operations that enhance its effectiveness.
- Brings staff-driven innovations forward to the management team to improve processes or increase efficiencies.
- Provides support to management in addressing issues and concerns quickly and effectively, promoting team morale and a positive departmental culture.
Administrative responsibilities
- Maintains reports required for health and safety compliance, ensuring they meet internal and external requirements.
- Ensures proper documentation of incidents or concerns, sharing relevant information with management to maintain high standards of care.
- Assists with external reporting requests, ensuring accurate and timely submission of data when necessary.
- Demonstrates proficiency in CAMS and HIFIS, ensuring accurate case management documentation and data entry for reporting and compliance.
- Oversees and reports on case management activities, maintaining workflow checklists and ensuring timely completion of intake requirements, interventions, referrals, and case planning.

Education and Experience Qualifications:
Education, Qualifications and Certifications:
- Minimum 4-year degree in human service field or equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
- Occupational First Aid
- Non-Violent Crisis Intervention
- De-escalation
- Motivational Interviewing
- Coaching is considered an asset
Experience and Skilled Knowledge Requirements
- Minimum 2 years related experience in a shelter or transitional program
- Minimum 1-year supervisory experience in a union environment
- Experience in a shelter, recovery center, or health care setting is considered an asset
- Experience scheduling and or monitoring timekeeping is an asset.

- Exemplary communication skills and confidence to interact with staff, management, residents and executive managers as required.
- Strong sense of integrity and confidentiality with professional ethics and a balanced sense of fairness and flexibility.
- Strong skills in de-escalation techniques
- Ability and willingness to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully that are satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion (i.e., The Salvation Army Abuse Registry) and provide an original copy of a Background Check screening.
Compensation:
The target hiring range for this position is $32.47 to $32.97 with a maximum of $33.47.Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
