Description
The Relief Floater and Overnight Supervisor is responsible for maintaining a safe, supportive, and welcoming environment for all clients in Victory Programs’ residential shelters, low-threshold transitional and permanent housing programs, and recovery homes.
This role provides overnight supervision, on-site coverage, and program support, including coverage for staff training and emergencies. We are seeking dependable and compassionate individuals who are passionate about supporting people and families experiencing homelessness and substance use disorders.
The ideal candidate demonstrates reliability, professionalism, strong communication and customer service skills, and the ability to remain calm and think clearly in high-stress situations.
Essential Functions:
* Must have on call availability for emergency coverage within 3 hours notice (including holidays
- Act in accordance with Victory Programs, Inc.’s Standards of Excellence and Philosophy of Care at all times, maintaining professional ethics, boundaries, and client confidentiality.
- Provide support to Relief staff on Evening and Weekend shifts: handling call-outs, ensuring coverage at the programs, on-boarding and training new employees, ensuring each program is in compliance with Victory Programs’ policies and procedure.
- Provide supervision and contribution to periodic performance reviews for all overnight Relief staff as assigned.
- Work overnight at a designated program when not providing support to other programs.
- Ensure overnight staff are providing quality, empathetic customer service to all clients in the programs.
- Provide a supportive and empathetic presence for all clients, offering recovery-oriented support and engagement.
- Provide milieu coverage, including maintaining the integrity of the program’s therapeutic environment, conducting safety rounds, answering phones, monitoring the front desk, and ensuring program guidelines are followed.
- Enforce policies and procedures to maintain a safe, healthy, and inclusive community environment.
- Utilize Nonviolent Crisis Intervention, motivational interviewing, and conflict de-escalation techniques as needed.
- Conduct regular wellness and safety checks to ensure the well-being of all residents, especially during overnight hours.
- Manage medication documentation, including counting controlled substances, documenting medication intake and removal, and compliance with medication policies.
- Ensure the facility remains in good repair, orderliness, and free from hazards, including adherence to fire safety standards.
- Support inventory of client belongings and maintain accurate records of all shifts, observations, and interactions.
- Participate in supervision, staff meetings, and professional development opportunities as requested by the supervisor.
- Supervisor will share the totality of supervision of relief staff with the Relief Floater/ Overnight Supervisor.
- Open availability for shift coverage Monday to Thursday.
Qualifications:
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
- One year of experience in human services, residential programs, or recovery support settings.
- Ability to respond calmly and effectively in emergencies.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and documentation skills.
Commitment to harm reduction, recovery-oriented, and trauma-informed care principles. - Must have reliable transportation and the ability to travel to multiple program sites as needed.
- Must be able to work overnight and on-call shifts, including weekends and holidays.
Preferred:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Psychology, Social Work, or related field.
- Certified in CPR, First Aid, and Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (or willing to obtain).
- Lived experience with recovery or homelessness (strongly encouraged to apply).
Position Type: Full Time (40 hrs/week) Non-Exempt
This position requires flexibility and reliability. Relief Floaters provide coverage across various program locations and must be available for on-call assignments, particularly overnight.
Typical Schedule:
- Fridays at Noon – Monday Morning: Relief Program Director Coverage, shift coverage, and Supervision/Training
- Holidays: On-Call or Assigned Coverage as needed
Salary: $27.00 per hour
