Position summary:          Manages activities of the region’s parts department.

 

General Purpose:    To provide parts support to our customers and branches in the region (external and/or service department) and grow our parts revenues.

 

Role qualifications:    

  • Must partner with management team to ensure we are meeting regional goals and corporate goals.
  • Must maintain systems and controls to ensure inventory levels are appropriate.
  • Must ensure we maintain good vendor relationships in line with business strategy.

 

Position responsibilities:

  • Oversee parts operations within region – hub and service centers (travel to service centers as appropriate)
  • Maintain high customer satisfaction – including service department.
  • Maintain adequate levels of inventory working with the corporate parts management.
  • Monitor inventory turns, minimize/eliminate slow moving parts inventory.
  • Maintain rapport with vendors and negotiate best pricing / terms where possible.
  • Meet and exceed profit objectives.
  • Development and supervision of region’s parts staff.
  • Partner with service manager to ensure good working relationship between parts and service departments.
  • Make sure alternative sources for parts are found whenever appropriate.
  • Manage road van inventories to ensure proper parts are stocked.
  • Manage consignment inventories.
  • Assist field sales reps with customer calls/visits, and/or help with parts solutions for our customers.
  • Oversee annual parts physical inventory.
  • Participate in or attend relevant trade shows.
  • Observe employee safety habits and work environment at every opportunity.
  • Work with marketing on any sales specials.
  • Make sure MSDS books are kept current and available to everyone.
  • Handle any projects as assigned by executive management.
  • Work closely with Regional management as well as local GM’s.

 


Essential skills and experience:

  • Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead people and get results through others
  • Management:  ability to organize and manage multiple priorities
  • Planning:  ability to think ahead and plan over a one-to-two year time span
  • Good interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills
  • Thorough knowledge of inventory rules and strategies.
  • Excellent knowledge of industrial powered equipment replacement parts and our industry with at least 5 years in a replacement parts environment and at least two years in a supervisory capacity.
  • Strong computer proficiency
  • Must have valid operator’s license for powered industrial equipment.

Nonessential skills and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business
  • Experience in all aspects of our business
  • Awareness of lean business principles

 

Reporting to this position:  Parts counter staff, inventory control, shipping & receiving staff, parts delivery drivers tire press personnel at home branch.

  • Work environment:  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate; however, while performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to noisier shop environments and may be exposed to unusual environments at customer sites.  When performing duties of this job, it is a requirement to wear Personal Protective Equipment whenever appropriate.
