POSITION SUMMARY:  Performs a variety of administrative work in performing and implementing programs and services. Responsible for working closely with the Community and Tribal Membership in accordance with the policies and procedures established.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Administer Benefits Program (Clothing Assistance Programs; Utility Assistance and Food Programs; Household Assistance; Adult/Minor Dental Assistance Programs; Christmas and Thanksgiving Food Box/Card Program; Sports and Recreation Program) as well as any new programs as approved by Tribal Council.
  • Responsible for ensuring all benefits are distributed within approved policies.
  • Interagency collaboration with other departments and appropriate record keeping to satisfy all documentation and reporting aspects of the benefit program.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

AUTHORITY/SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:  This position does not have supervisory authority.

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Must have High School diploma or GED
  • Must have four (4)/years of direct experience working in Administrative, Clerical, benefit programs or related programs.
  • Must have one (1)/years of direct experience with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel or similar programs.
  • Experience working in Native American Governments and populations preferred.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • Shall possess a valid driver's license and be insurable by agencies insurance.
  • Must provide or obtain CPR & First Aide certification within three (3) months of hire.
  • Must be able to pass criminal background/fingerprint check and be bondable.

COMPUTER OPERATIONS

  • Proficient personal computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

REASONING ABILITY:

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to operate standard office equipment (copier, fax, etc.).
  • Must be able to work with American Indian people and be sensitive to their culture.
  • Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures. Report all unsafe activities to supervisor and/or Human Resources.
  • Participate in proactive team efforts of Bear River Band of the Rohnerville Rancheria.
  • Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill.
  • Must be able to work all shifts, weekends, holidays & special events as needed.
