7600 MECHANIC, UTILITY FLEET
An employee who has completed an accredited Apprentice Mechanic program, or who has worked for two (2) or more consecutive years as an automotive/heavy equipment Journeyman Mechanic, and is capable of performing all maintenance, service, and directly related functions involved with the hands on maintenance of a large modern utility type fleet of vehicles and equipment. The person shall possess and maintain a Commercial Drivers License (CDL) with air brake and combination vehicle endorsements and a DOT physical card. At one (1) year, the employee shall possess and maintain all CDL endorsements in the employee's responsibility area. The employee shall, during the first year, become familiar with and following, under indirect supervision, department, Company, automotive and utility industry job standards and practices as directed. May be required to assist in related safety and training functions.
Employees are eligible for a $500 bonus incentive for ASE Master Mechanic certification (one every five years). Additional certification bonuses as approved by management.
Qualifications
This position is regulated by the Department of Transportation (DOT) and the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) under Title 49 CFR Part 382 and Part 40. Any applicant/employee who is licensed and would operate a commercial vehicle for the Company will be subject to drug and alcohol testing under the Company's FMCSA drug and alcohol testing programs. Any employment, transfer, or promotion offer made for this position is contingent upon taking and passing a drug test prior to the commencement of the new role. If an applicant/employee fails the drug test, any offer of employment, transfer, or promotion will be revoked.
