Position Overview

The Vice President of Segment Sales is responsible for driving profitable growth across the company’s key market segments: Industry, Education, Healthcare, and Retail. This executive leader will define segment strategies, oversee segment sales initiatives, and work with their team to develop long-term relationships with key clients and influencers. The role requires a balance of strategic vision, operational execution, and people leadership to ensure the company maintains a leading position in each segment.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and execute comprehensive go-to-market strategies for each segment—Industry, Education, Healthcare, and Retail—aligned with overall business objectives.
  • Analyze market trends, competitive landscape, and customer insights to identify new opportunities for growth.
  • Partner with marketing, product management, and design teams to ensure segment-specific needs inform product innovation and brand positioning.
  • Lead forecasting, budgeting, and performance management for all segment sales channels.

Sales Management

  • Oversee the team of segment specific directors, responsible for segment performance, ensuring revenue and margin goals are met or exceeded.
  • Work closely with Area Vice Presidents and Regional Sales Directors to ensure support and alignment.
  • Build and maintain high-impact relationships with key accounts, A&D firms, general contractors, and flooring contractors.
  • Drive strategic account planning, negotiation, and contract execution for major clients.

Team Development and Leadership

  • Recruit, mentor, and lead a team of segment sales directors.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Collaborate with product and marketing teams to tailor solutions and campaigns for each market segment.
  • Work with operations and customer service teams to ensure excellence in delivery and client satisfaction.
  • Partner with finance and leadership teams to evaluate segment profitability and adjust strategies accordingly.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Architecture/Design, or related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in B2B sales leadership, preferably in commercial flooring, building materials, or related industries.
  • Proven track record of managing multi-segment or vertical sales organizations.
  • Strong understanding of specification selling and the commercial construction process.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and strategic planning skills.
  • Ability to travel frequently across regions as needed.

Success Indicators

  • Achieving annual revenue, margin, and growth objectives by segment.
  • Expanding market share in priority segments.
  • High customer satisfaction and repeat business from key accounts.
  • Effective alignment between sales, marketing, and product strategy.
  • Development and retention of top-performing sales talent.
