East Greenbush Animal Hospital is seeking a full-time Assistant Practice Manager

East Greenbush Animal Hospital is a progressive, full-service veterinary practice serving the Capital District with compassionate care for dogs, cats, and small mammals. Our 7,200-square-foot facility is equipped with advanced diagnostic and surgical capabilities, including digital radiography, ultrasound, and dental imaging. We offer comprehensive services such as wellness care, pain management, grooming, boarding, and training, all delivered by a dedicated team committed to excellence and community engagement.
We’re now seeking an Assistant Practice Manager who shares our passion and can help unlock the full potential of our practice—supporting our doctors, enhancing operations, and fostering a thriving, collaborative environment where pets and people come first.
Pay: $50,000 - $65,000 per year, determined by the candidate's skills, experience, and qualifications.
Schedule: Full-time, salaried position (approx. 40 hours per week). Typical schedule Monday through Friday, with occasional Saturdays. Flexibility and discretion in creating a schedule.

Key Responsibilities & Requirements
As an Assistant Practice Manager, you will be instrumental in partnering with the Practice Manager to drive operational excellence and lead a high-performing team in a fast-paced, client-focused environment. You will report to the Operations Director and work closely with Partner Doctors, the Medical Director, and department Leads to ensure smooth day-to-day operations and exceptional patient care.
Strategic Thinking & Initiative
- Support Practice Manager in execution of strategic hospital projects / initiatives to grow and improve the business.
Marketing & Growth
- Design and execute marketing strategies to attract new clients and promote services.
- Partner with Operations Director and Marketing team to analyze performance metrics and financial reports to identify growth opportunities and operational improvements.
Client & Community Engagement
- Develop and execute client retention and outreach initiatives to boost engagement and loyalty (e.g., service health reminder outreach, forward booking, rescheduling canceled appointments, Google reviews and online reputation)
- Foster partnerships with local organizations and referral networks and represent the hospital at community events.
- Confidently handle demanding client interactions and resolve concerns with tact and clarity, escalating to Medical Director and/or Practice Manager when needed.
Client Service & Front Desk Operations
- Build strong relationships with clients, ensuring their needs are met with professionalism and empathy.
- Partner with Lead CSR to ensure quality client experience and smooth front desk operations including scheduling, check-in/check-out, and client communications.
- Assist Lead CSR in addressing client complaints with empathy and professionalism, turning challenges into opportunities for service recovery.
Personnel & Facility Management
- Oversee maintenance of a clean, safe, and well-equipped facility that reflects the hospital’s commitment to excellence – working with department Leads and Practice Manager when relevant.
- Partner with Practice Manager and department Leads to foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and team collaboration.
