About us:
Linklaters is a global law firm, with 31 offices in 21 countries worldwide.
Linklaters is a people business. Being best in class in the eyes of our clients means that our people must be exceptional.
We look not only for brilliant minds, but for people who will thrive in our environment: people who love working collaboratively and demonstrate the innovative, efficient, agile, entrepreneurial, and responsible mind-set we aim to bring to every interaction.
Ours is an environment of outperformance. We achieve this not with targets and incentives, but by fostering a positive, supportive, fair, and open atmosphere.
We respect and value difference but insist on inclusivity. We celebrate all aspects of diversity and challenge any form of bias. This is vital to our ability to work as one team, with a common goal.
The Role:
You will play a key role in delivering the firm’s Clients & Sectors strategy, working closely with Sector Leaders to shape and implement a forward-looking approach that supports profitable growth through targeted client engagement and cross-selling. As part of the globally diverse BDM team, you’ll collaborate with colleagues and lawyers to develop initiatives that align with the firm’s strategic priorities. The role offers a varied and stimulating workload, with strong opportunities for learning, development, and progression within a supportive and collegiate environment.
Your Key Responsibilities
Develop and execute a clear Industrial & Chemicals sector strategy, with emphasis on aerospace, defence, and security, aligned to firm-wide priorities and focused on profitable growth.
Use data, market intelligence and client feedback to inform strategic decisions and identify high-potential opportunities.
Lead sector-specific business development initiatives and go-to-market campaigns in collaboration with BDM teams.
Oversee client portfolio reviews to ensure alignment with strategic objectives and sector developments.
Support pitch strategy and submissions, working with Pitching teams to deliver compelling proposals and client meeting preparation.
Monitor performance against targets and KPIs to track the effectiveness of sector strategy and BD efforts.
Facilitate cross-sector collaboration and best practice sharing, ensuring coordinated client targeting across sectors.
Guide client relationship teams in identifying white space and developing actionable plans to deepen engagement with priority clients.
What we’re looking for:
Proven experience in a global sector BD role within legal or professional services, with a strong understanding of cross-selling strategies and sector-driven growth.
In-depth knowledge of the Industrial & Chemicals sector, ideally including aerospace, defence, and security, with insight into client needs, market trends, and sector challenges.
Demonstrated success in developing and implementing sector-specific BD strategies that drive revenue and support strategic objectives.
Strong collaboration skills, with a track record of working effectively with senior partners, relationship managers, and client teams.
Comfortable navigating complex environments, using data-led insights to inform decisions and bring together multiple moving parts.
