Position Overview

Reporting to the Director of Operations and working closely with the Technical Director, the MYS Programs Director oversees all aspects of in-house player development programs at MYS. Responsibilities include program design, planning, execution, oversight, budget administration, staffing, and ensuring overall program effectiveness.

The portfolio includes MPS Training, MYS Skills Training, Winter Sessions, a variety of Camps (Summer, Spring Break, No School Day), Pre-Season Camp, Partner-Camps and Sports Performance Training.

The Programs Director recognizes that MYS is responsible for setting organizational objectives, while the Programs Director is charged with executing these goals. This position collaborates with the Technical Director and other staff to implement and enhance auxiliary MYS programs. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strategic vision, creativity, and strong administrative skills. This role is expected to be the employee’s exclusive position within MYS and may not be combined with other roles. This position is part-time and will work approximately 30 hours per week. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create curriculum for all camp and programming options for recreation and travel programs in conjunction with the MYS Technical and Recreation Directors.
  • Create, in conjunction with the Finance Director, a program budget and adhere to guidelines.
  • Attend and lead all program sessions to ensure overall success of the program, adherence to MYS policies, procedures, and coaching standards as well as trouble shoot on the field concerns.
  • Promptly and thoroughly provide all camp and programming information to the Recreation and Programs Administrator and Director of Operations to ensure registration is open and communicated well in advance of program start date.
  • Recruit and supervise a diverse group of MYS coaching staff in accordance with program budget restrictions prior to the program start date.
  • Manage and coordinate all partner programming (such as Kick-n-code and sports performance training).
  • Ensure equal opportunity and fair access for all MYS coaching staff to participate in and work MYS Programs.
  • Ensure that all staff have completed employment paperwork and compliance items prior to scheduling assignments.
  • Ensure that all program staff thoroughly understand the program curriculum prior to the start of the sessions.
  • Review and approve employee time sheets for Finance Director.
  • Work with Recreation and Programs Administrator to communicate with all participants re: first date (welcome email) and any changes that may occur (weather cancellations).
  • Adhere to player/staff ratios of 1:10-12 for camps and programs.
  • Submit an end of program summary that includes program success, challenges, recommendations for improvement and provide staff evaluations.
  • Participate as a staff member in all MYS meetings and events as requested.
  • Liaison and primary POC with partners.

Qualifications


  • A minimum United State Soccer Federation (USSF) D license, a National Youth license or comparable foreign or United Soccer Coaches license/diploma.
  • A background and familiarity with MYS and the McLean area are strongly preferred.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with     attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and sound interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced dynamic environment with strong decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work non-traditional hours, including nights and weekends; must have own transportation.
  • Strong technological skills and the ability to work with software programs, including spreadsheets, databases, Google suite, word processing and graphic presentation software.
