Title: SR Data Engineer

Roles and Responsibilities:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Data Engineer with strong expertise in Azure Databricks, PySpark, and Python to join our team in a hybrid role based in Hartford, CT. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing data pipelines and solutions on the Azure cloud platform, ensuring high performance and scalability.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and develop scalable data pipelines using Azure Databricks and PySpark
• Build and optimize data models and ETL/ELT processes for large-scale data processing
• Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and business stakeholders to understand data requirements
• Implement data quality checks, monitoring, and performance tuning
• Work with Azure Data Lake, Azure Data Factory, and other Azure services
• Ensure data security, compliance, and governance standards are met
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to best practices in data engineering

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience in Data Engineering roles
• Strong hands-on experience with Azure Databricks and PySpark
• Proficiency in Python for data processing and scripting
• Experience with Azure Data Lake, Azure Data Factory, and SQL
• Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts and data modeling
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and version control (e.g., Git)
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with Delta Lake, MLflow, or Azure Synapse Analytics
• Knowledge of DevOps practices in a data engineering context
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies

The annual salary for this position is between $90K- 100K depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate

This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
