Job Title:
Dimensional Management Engineer
Key Responsibilities:
• Define measurement systems, locator strategies, and tolerance specifications for Body in White (BiW) components and exterior trims in line with styling and manufacturing requirements.
• Ensure robustness of measurement systems from part fabrication through BiW assembly.
• Analyze functional requirements of BiW and create measurement strategies for module fitment.
• Discuss and align tolerance concepts with cross-functional stakeholders.
• Perform tolerance stack-up studies (1D, 2D, or 3D) during the development phase to identify potential production risks and propose mitigation strategies through tolerance concepts, alignment strategy, or design recommendations.
• Execute digital tolerance simulations in 3DCS to replicate production processes, applying suitable probability distributions aligned with manufacturing variations.
• Create Gap & Flush plans and concepts to ensure high visual quality of the vehicle.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (CFT) to incorporate feedback and provide dimensional management solutions.
• Develop sub-module and closure integration concepts aligned with gap & flush and production planning requirements.
• Ensure quality, timeliness, and completeness of project deliverables.
Required Skills and Experience:
• 6–8 years of experience in the automobile industry, with specialization in Body in White, Exterior, or Interior domains.
• Good understanding and working proficiency in 3D tolerance simulation tools – 3DCS preferred.
• Strong understanding of GD&T and SPC principles.
• Knowledge of perceived quality and Body in White manufacturing processes.
• Understanding of automotive assembly operations, measurement systems, and inspection methods.
• Proficiency in NX CAD for design and tolerance evaluation.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills within cross-functional teams.
• Ability to work with agility across multiple vehicle architectures in a fast-paced environment.
Educational Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s / Master’s degree in Mechanical, Automobile, or Industrial Engineering.
Preferred Qualifications (Good to Have):
• Exposure to premium automotive programs and global dimensional management practices.
• Experience working in digital validation environments or on end-to-end tolerance management for vehicle programs.
• Familiarity with Mercedes-Benz dimensional standards, methods, and stakeholder collaboration tools.
