Hello 👋

We’re HappyScribe, a profitable, 100% bootstrapped AI company based in Barcelona.
We built one of the web’s most accurate multilingual transcription platforms, trusted by hundreds of thousands of users each month. That product funds our freedom to create what’s next—no investors, no burn rate, just focus.

Now we’re taking that same tech and expertise to a bigger frontier: turning conversations into intelligence. We’re building the layer where meetings become memory, ideas become action, and teams work with more clarity and speed.

You’d be joining a team of ~25 people, close-knit and pragmatic. Some of us are scaling a mature, revenue-generating platform. Others are prototyping new products that push the limits of speech and agentic AI.

We move fast but think long-term. There’s room here to own, shape, and ship real products — not pitch decks.

What you will do…

  • Own the technical direction of our core platform — the engine that powers HappyScribe’s revenue. You’ll make architecture decisions, manage tech debt with intent, and build user-facing features that improve stability, performance, and experience.

  • Lead a small, high-output team (3–4 engineers) through technical influence, not hierarchy. You’ll guide design and execution by building alongside them.

  • Ship code that matters. This role is hands-on: you’ll architect, implement, and iterate fast, turning priorities into shipped features and cleaner systems.

  • Work closely with Ignasi (CPTO), plus our GTM and Care leads, to translate business needs into technical strategy and execution.

  • Example projects:

    • Strengthen and simplify our infrastructure for reliability and maintainability.

    • Optimize our AI provider routing to improve speed and cut costs.

    • Level up our user-facing editors with faster performance and better usability.

What you will bring…

  • You’re a senior engineer (7+ years) who thrives in small, fast-moving teams. You know how to balance shipping speed with system quality — and have the scars to prove it.

  • You think in systems, not sprints. You build things meant to last and take pride in work that quietly scales.

  • You’re self-driven and business-aware. You care about impact, not ceremony — give you context, and you’ll find the leverage points.

  • You’ve led technical projects end-to-end: making architecture calls, managing complexity, and guiding products from idea to production.

  • You communicate clearly with both engineers and stakeholders. You can explain trade-offs, own decisions, and stay calm under ambiguity.

  • You’re fluent in AI — you’ve built or integrated AI products, or you use AI tools regularly to work faster and smarter.

  • You’re comfortable with our stack or quick to learn:

    • Rails, Turbo, React on the product side.

    • Mixpanel or Snowflake → dbt → Metabase for analytics (we don’t have a dedicated Data team).

  • You are excited about our engineering principles and most of the Rails doctrine clicks with your style of work.

Bonus points if…

  • You’ve worked in B2B SaaS

  • You’ve interfaced directly with customers — validating solutions, collecting feedback, or supporting launches.
