Scalehouse Operator II presso Loudoun County Government, VA

Position Duties

The Loudoun County Department of General Services is seeking qualified applicants for a full-time Scalehouse Operator vacancy within the Waste Management Division.

The successful candidate will operate all functions of the Scalehouse in accordance with department policies and serve as the first point of contact for customers at the Loudoun County Landfill. This position will accurately assess the waste types and charge appropriate fees; communicate waste policy and user fees to the public; provide accurate and complete revenue collections; assure that cash, credit/debit card, and account charges are accurately charged; complete basic computer software troubleshooting and escalate issues to vendor help desk when necessary; coordinate repair, maintenance, inspections, and calibration of scales; and provide additional support in other landfill operations, as needed.

Hiring salary is commensurate with experience.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent; three (3) years of related work experience with experience in a cashier/customer service role; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
• At least one (1) year of computer experience.
• MS Word or database experience
• Bilingual language skills
• CDL (Commercial Driver’s License)

Other Qualifications

The successful candidate will undergo pre-employment criminal, credit, and DMV background checks. A valid driver's license and good driving record are required (driving records may be reviewed annually for continued qualification).

Must be available to work a rotating schedule of Mon-Sat and Tues-Fri. Subject to recall or being held beyond scheduled workday; must be available to respond to County emergencies (24/7) as directed in accordance with Department policy and written or verbal directive.

This position requires the ability to lift fifty (50) pounds and to perform snow removal operations when so directed.
