Position Title: VAPA (Visual and Performing Arts) Music Coach
Description of Position:
Organizes and teaches specialized music sectionals in small to medium-sized groups, utilizing CDE and National Music Standards. Develops or assists in instruction as determined by the band director; assists in other school programs and duties as assigned. This position provides direct student support after school and on weekends during each corresponding season.
Five music coach positions available (depending on need and specialty)

- Color Guard
Qualifications:
Must demonstrate knowledge and classroom experience with all three music coach positions and instruments.
Job Responsibilities:
- Establish a schedule for each class or classes in consultation with the band directo
- Assist in the organization and presentation of music programs for schools and the public.
- Assist in the selection and ordering of appropriate music or any other necessary equipment for any and all ensembles.
- Rehearse musical ensembles as needed.
- Select, edit, and rearrange musical arrangements to accommodate the musical ability of pupils.
- Assist in continual recruitment to the program.
- Participate in immediate area supervision.
- Prepare students for festival participation.
- Give instruction in the fundamentals of music.
- Provide small group lessons to students enrolled in the band program.
- Assist the band director in student grading.
Knowledge of:
- In-depth understanding of visual and performing arts curricula, best practices, and effective arts integration strategies.
- Strong leadership and professional development expertise, with the ability to inspire and empower educators.
- Proficiency in comprehensive planning, continuous improvement systems, and evaluation methodologies.
- Familiarity with California curriculum frameworks, content standards, and state education regulations.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to foster collaborative relationships among diverse stakeholders.
Ability to:
- Effectively plan and collaborate with Band Director
- Meet schedules and timelines
- Use technology and computer software applications as appropriate to the work environment
- Utilize effective collaboration and communication skills
- Respect confidentiality and use good judgment

Job Requirements:

Significant physical abilities include lifting/carrying, reaching/handling, talking/hearing conversations, near-far visual acuity/depth perception/ accommodation/field of vision.
