Objective:
The Lunch Aide assists in maintaining a safe, clean, and orderly environment during student lunch periods. This role involves supervising students in the cafeteria and/or on the playground, assisting with meal distribution, ensuring proper behavior, and promoting a positive, respectful atmosphere.
Typically, this position is part-time during school lunch hours.
Essential Functions:
- Supervise students in the cafeteria, playground, or designated lunch areas to ensure safety and appropriate behavior.
- Assist younger students with opening food containers, using utensils, and cleaning up after meals.
- Monitor food lines and help maintain an orderly flow of students.
- Encourage good table manners, cooperation, and respectful interactions.
- Respond calmly and effectively to student issues or conflicts; report serious concerns to appropriate staff.
- Clean tables, chairs, and floors before and after lunch periods; dispose of trash properly.
- Assist custodial staff with maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards.
- Ensure compliance with school policies and safety procedures.
- *Perform other duties as assigned or required.

Working Conditions:
- Work is performed primarily indoors (cafeteria) and occasionally outdoors (playground).
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting (up to 25 lbs.).
- Exposure to noise and varying temperatures depending on location.
Required Education and Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Required: Bi-lingual (English and Spanish)
- Required: Prior experience working with children.
- Ability to supervise and manage groups of students in a positive, fair, and consistent manner.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Dependability, patience, and a caring attitude toward children.
