Come join our movement! We are a free, public charter school providing dual immersion for students on two campuses in Oakland. We serve a wide variety of students from across Oakland and the East Bay, and we need your help to serve our students.

We are looking for a proactive, engaging, dedicated Instructional Aide to support part-time in a Kindergarten classroom. Position hours are from 10:00 am to 2:45 pm. Applicants must be French native speakers or have a proficient level of French.

The primary job specifications are to support the general education teacher to supervise, guide, and support students in their daily, weekly, and annual school activities, in accordance with the Francophone Charter School of Oakland’s (“FCSO”) standards.  In addition, supporting the supervision and instruction in the After Care as assigned.  This position is overseen by the Director of Lower Campus.

Requirements

 The Instructional Aide (IA) will: 

• Understand, promote and support the mission, vision and guiding principles of FCSO. 
• Under the direction of the teacher, provide individual and small group instruction as appropriate.
• Support students with learning French by speaking with them in the target language and support/explain their assignments.
• Enforce school policies and procedures and maintain confidentiality of all students.
• Support positive student behavior through praise and encouragement in alignment with the teacher’s classroom systems and school-wide systems.
• Collaborate and implement feedback from classroom teachers and other team members.
• Have a willingness to learn, ask questions and work independently.
• Maintain positive and professional behavior with staff, teachers and students at all times. 
• Schoolwide support duties, such as recess and/or lunch oversight.
• Ability to speak/read/write in French is a plus.
