Pay Rate: $323.28 min daily
Primary Purpose:
This position has technical responsibility and accountability for supporting the district’s enterprise network infrastructure. Responsibilities include planning, designing, installing, configuring, maintaining, and optimizing firewalls, routers, switches, WiFi, and other network connectivity equipment while ensuring minimal downtime.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
- Bachelor's Degree in a technical field or equivalent experience
- Industry certifications such as CCNP/CCIE preferred
Experience:
- Five years of experience in lead Network Engineer role.
- Five years of experience designing and implementing enterprise networks
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience configuring, implementing, and maintaining LAN/WAN/WLAN in a large enterprise environment
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience configuring, implementing, and maintaining, NextGen firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPNs, load balancers, secure gateways, and other edge devices.
- Knowledge and experience with networking concepts and protocols including BGP, EIGRP, OSPF, TCP/UDP, DNS/DHCP, Multicast, SNMP, RADIUS, 802.1X.
- Knowledge and experience with networking concepts and protocols including BGP, EIGRP, OSPF, TCP/UDP, DNS/DHCP, Multicast, SNMP, RADIUS, 802.1X.
- Knowledge and experience with data center technologies and cloud infrastructures such as Azure.
- Excellent knowledge of best practices, industry trends, and compliance requirements in enterprise networking.

Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Manages the enterprise network environment of the district’s technology program in such a way as to keep all solutions contemporary, cost effective, and achieving the stated goals and objectives of the technology plan.
- Lead large-scale network projects as required related to technology initiatives, including requirements analysis and documentation, task scheduling, and execution.
- Design, implement, and maintain LAN/WAN/WLAN solutions throughout the enterprise, including configuration and maintenance of routers, switches, firewalls, access points, and other connectivity devices.
- Design, implement, and maintain routing and switching solutions using industry best practices (e.g., BGP, EIGRP, OSPF, VLANs, STP).
- Lead efforts to continuously improve network operations by conducting network assessments and analysis and recommending appropriate changes
- Evaluate and test new networking hardware, software, and tools to support evolving business needs
- Responsible for network security and access. Ensures proper tools, procedures, and measures are in place and maintained to prevent unauthorized access and malicious attacks
- Manages network growth and capacity planning. Monitor, analyze, troubleshoot, and optimize network system performance, proactively identifying and resolving service-impacting issues promptly.
- Collaborate with team members to plan and execute network upgrades, systems/firmware updates, migrations, and new deployments.
- Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior team members as needed.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive business continuity/disaster recovery architecture, including redundant, highly available networks, systems, and services.
- Maintain up-to-date documentation, including diagrams, on all infrastructure systems, services, and connectivity. Practices asset management and keeps updated component inventories and related documentation and technical specifications.
- Establishes and maintains a high level of customer trust and confidence in the team’s knowledge of and concern for educational and business needs.
- Be customer service-oriented and maintain a professional approach regarding all district matters
- Be adaptable and flexible in acceptance of changes in techniques and procedures
- Perform R&D and remain knowledgeable of emerging trends in technology and keep abreast of innovative practices.
- Attain and keep current, relevant technology certifications.
- Perform special projects, after-hours support and upgrades, and other duties as assigned.
