Position Type: Full-Time, On-Site

Compensation:  $80,000-$105,000 Annual (DOE)

Position Overview:


Under the supervision of the Director of Marketing and Communications, the Marketing & Communications Specialist leads the implementation of strategies that build brand awareness, strengthen engagement, and advance fundraising efforts. The Specialist plays a key role in ensuring consistent, high-quality branding and communications that reflect the Club’s mission and values.


Through cross-departmental collaboration, the Specialist manages marketing and communication projects that drive member enrollment, support staff recruitment and retention, and enhance stakeholder engagement. Responsibilities include coordinating the design and production of marketing collateral and digital assets (e.g., reports, one-pagers, banners, event materials, and social media graphics), managing campaign timelines, and maintaining brand consistency across all platforms. The Specialist also supports the promotion and branding of Club and community events, helping to expand visibility and audience reach through digital media.


Essential Functions:

  • Project & Campaign Management: Coordinate marketing and communications projects from planning through execution. Manage timelines, vendors, and internal approvals to ensure deliverables are completed on time and within scope.
  • Program Support: Lead marketing initiatives that drive member enrollment, highlight program quality, and support staff recruitment and retention. Ensure all marketing and family communication materials meet grant compliance and reporting requirements.
  • Brand Consistency: Maintain a cohesive visual identity and voice across all marketing materials and digital channels.
  • Digital Marketing: Manage social media platforms, execute digital campaigns, and track performance metrics to grow audience engagement.
  • Content Coordination: Content Coordination: Oversee the production of creative assets including social media graphics, web content, event materials, and internal communications. Draft and edit short-form copy such as social posts and web updates.
  • Event Promotion & Branding: Support the marketing, promotion, and branding of fundraising, community, and member-facing events; coordinate event marketing materials and digital promotion timelines.
  • Cross-Department Collaboration: Work with program, development, and HR teams to align communication strategies with organizational goals and key initiatives.
  • Analytics & Reporting: Track engagement metrics, monitor campaign performance, and provide insights to inform marketing and enrollment strategies.
  • Asset Management: Maintain organized digital libraries of photos, videos, and design files; ensure staff have appropriate access to current, brand-aligned assets and templates.

Key Responsibilities:


1. Project Management

  • Lead the coordination of marketing and communications projects, ensuring timelines, deliverables, and budgets are met.
  • Maintain project documentation, status updates, and schedules for internal stakeholders and external vendors using the project management tool established by the organization.
  • Manage relationships with creative vendors, including designers, photographers, videographers, and printers.
  • Coordinate approvals, feedback, and final production of marketing materials in compliance with funding and branding requirements.

2. Digital Media & Engagement

  • Execute digital marketing strategies to support brand awareness, enrollment, hiring, and fundraising goals.
  • Manage social media channels to grow follower base and engagement, ensuring all content aligns with program and compliance standards.
  • Monitor analytics and performance metrics to evaluate digital engagement and improve campaign results.
  • Maintain and update the organization’s website, collaborating with internal teams and web partners.
  • Coordinate production and distribution of newsletters and email campaigns, ensuring clarity and compliance with grant communication expectations.

3. Brand Stewardship

  • Enforce brand guidelines and ensure message consistency across all marketing channels and materials.
  • Manage and maintain the organization’s creative asset library (photos, videos, templates, and brand materials).
  • Provide staff with access to approved and current brand assets and communication resources.
  • Coordinate photography and video production, including scheduling, logistics, and vendor procurement.
  • Oversee post-production, including reviewing proofs, approving edits, and ensuring final deliverables meet brand and grant visibility requirements.

4. Program & Event Promotion

  • Support marketing and communications for Club programs, family communications, enrollment campaigns, and community events.
  • Ensure promotional materials for grant-funded programs meet required visibility and acknowledgment standards.
  • Develop event marketing timelines and collateral in coordination with internal teams.
  • Secure and manage vendors for event materials, photography, and promotional displays.

5. Data & Insights

  • Track and report on marketing performance metrics, including engagement, reach, and enrollment conversions.
  • Maintain documentation of communication outputs as required for grant compliance and reporting.
  • Partner with the Director of Marketing & Communications to analyze data and apply insights to future campaigns.

Requirements

 

Required:


1. Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in marketing, project management, or creative development, ideally in a nonprofit, education, or social impact setting.
  • Experience managing digital campaigns, producing content, and coordinating vendors or creative teams.

2. Skills & Competencies

  • Proficiency with marketing and project tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Cloud, Constant Contact, Trello, Salesforce, Microsoft Office).
  • Strong understanding of social media platforms, digital marketing, and website management.
  • Strong eye for design and ability to guide creative direction.
  • Working knowledge of print and digital production processes.

Work Environment: 

 

This position will work primarily in an Administrative office and School-based locations for the Boys & Girls Club of San Leandro. This role may occasionally require flexibility to accommodate organizational events or deadlines. 


Key aspects of the work environment include:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the noise level in the work environment may vary, light to moderate.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move more than 25 pounds.
