GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION
The position offers the opportunity to be a Mechanical Engineer and work on a variety of growth initiatives in the electric and ICE vehicle space. The position requires the passion for learning about chassis and powertrain system design, supplier interactions, design and release of chassis and powertrain systems, and participate in projects in accordance with engineering excellence.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES
- Lead the design and release of mechanical components and mechanical subsystems including powertrains (motors, engines, transaxles, CVTs) and chassis (frame, suspension, brakes, steering) for new product development projects.
- Develop and maintain a vehicle and component mechanical specification and qualification plan.
- Fluent in requirements, risk analysis, DFMEA, DVP&R, engineering change notice and specifications.
- Employ project management methodologies that ensure a predictable outcome for department goals and responsibilities.
- Remove roadblocks and accelerate implementation of projects.
- Develop technology roadmaps and strategies that clearly articulate how we are going to continuously win in chosen markets.
- Drive culture of traceable test acceptance criteria using reliability and confidence in designs.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work with designers, lab technicians and other team members.
- Understand future agencies and regulatory standards that affect your product.
- Achieve scheduled milestones for assigned projects.
- Effectively self-manage multiple small or medium sized projects
- Problem solving (9-step, 8D, etc.).
- Lead Customer calls/visits.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE JOB
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent is required
Experience in at least 1 of the following areas is beneficial, but not a necessity:
- Mechanical design and analysis of powertrains (electric motors, ICEs, CVTs, transaxles)
- Chassis system design – Suspension, brakes, steering
Experience:
- 3+ years’ experience is recommended.
