Job Summary

A Material Handler I is responsible for a variety of tasks related to the movement, storage, and inventory of materials within a manufacturing or warehouse environment. The role requires meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to safety protocols. This position is a key part of the production and supply chain process, ensuring materials are in the right place at the right time to support assembly and other operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Pull parts and materials from the stockroom and other storage areas to support assembly lines, including specific cells like the Cam Follower, SJ, and Bushing Cells.
  • Move products between stations according to the production router, including transporting items from the Turning department to the next stage.
  • Assist in the unloading of incoming shipments and put away received goods into their designated locations, including returning unused stock to inventory.
  • Operate powered industrial equipment, such as a forklift and pallet jack, to transport materials safely and efficiently.
  • Performing a routine cycle counts to maintain accurate inventory levels.
  • Conduct inventory moves and production receipts using the AS400 system.
  • Ensure inventory accuracy by carefully recording all movements and transactions.
  • Records require information (e.g., production, quality, and time data) in both written and electronic formats.
  • Adhere to all company safety, housekeeping, and procedural guidelines.
  • Perform daily pre-operation inspections on all assigned equipment.
  • Perform any other job-related duties as directed by a supervisor or lead person.
  • Communicate any concerns or unusual findings to supervisors

Education/Experience/Qualifications & Skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Entry-level candidates are encouraged to apply. 1-2 years of experience in materials handling, warehouse, or similar logistics roles is highly desirable.
  • Ability to accurately perform weigh counting of parts.
  • Familiarity with inventory management systems, specifically the AS400 platform, for performing inventory moves and production receipts.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Basic computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to read and understand technical specifications and instructions.
  • Good hand-eye coordination and attention to detail.
  • Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
  • Strong oral and written presentation skills, effective time management abilities, and robust problem-solving capabilities to communicate effectively, prioritize tasks efficiently, and address challenges proactively.
