Description
Job Summary: Interface with our independent manufacturer’s representatives to assist in the selection, rating and application of AAON products. Make recommendations and pricing of special HVAC equipment options for industrial and commercial applications. This includes analyzing data such as customer design proposals and specifications to determine the feasibility of a design change and developing new and unique HVAC equipment and systems to meet customer-specific requirements. This position will be versed in one location product offerings and cross train on other location offerings.
Essential Responsibilities/Activities:
- Confers with manufacturer’s reps, specifying engineers, customers, and others to discuss existing or potential engineering projects and products to meet end customer’s needs.
- Applies engineering knowledge to generate solutions for unique HVAC applications.
- Analyzes data such as customer design proposals and specifications to determine feasibility of design change using engineering principles and advanced computational methods.
- Determines pricing for new equipment special options based on engineering, manufacturing, and material costs. Generates Special Pricing Authorizations (SPAs.)
- Develops applications of controls and systems for commercial and industrial HVAC applications.
- Directs modifications of products to ensure conformance with engineering design and customer’s specifications.
- Evaluates product applications using performance selection software.
- Provides technical support and technical documentation for sales representatives.
- Provides technical support to assist internal personnel in properly processing orders.
- Researches and recommends changes to performance selection software.
- Advises design modifications for standard and new product offerings.
Qualifications
Education and Experience Requirements:
Degree(s): BA or BS in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Chemical Engineering or similar degree in applied sciences. Education beyond the minimum is an added advantage for career development activities. Must have at least 1 year of industry experience and complete AAON’s Masters of HVAC or equivalent.
License(s): Professional Engineer’s licensure or EIT is a plus.
Certification(s): LEED certification is a plus.

- Strong analytical problem solving.
- Must work well alone and on a team.
- Ability to make engineering decisions based on HVAC system design requirements.
Essential Physical Functions:
- Lift up to 50lbs.
- Ability to be comfortably seated at a desk for prolonged periods of time.
- Ability to climb.
- Work requires frequent trips to manufacturing environment where individual will be subject to varying extreme temperatures and exposed to dusty/dirty conditions at times.
