Job Title:
Junior Business Analyst
Position Overview:
The Junior Business Analyst is responsible for gathering and documenting system/business requirements in the form of user stories and use cases, performing requirement analysis and systems analysis, facilitating design and development of software solutions, assisting with the testing process, and helping with the quality assurance process. Must be USC/GC/EAD with ability to obtain a government clearance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for stakeholder management, requirement elicitation, preparing estimations for business analysis tasks and deliverables, systems analysis, and preparing functional specifications using user stories, acceptance criteria, and use case narration.
- Assertive and able to take ownership of the project development lifecycle and its outcomes.
- Ensure business needs are properly translated to functional specifications and provide a system solution, assisting with project schedules and status reports.
- Plan business analysis efforts including stakeholder analysis, communication planning, and elicitation techniques.
- Support discussions on establishing and controlling application scope.
- Facilitate requirements gathering via meetings, interviews, brainstorming, and documentation analysis.
- Support customer meetings to understand client business practices and needs.
- Document and validate high-level business needs and nonfunctional requirements.
- Ensure requirements are complete, consistent, traceable, and verifiable.
- Validate requirements with business stakeholders and team members.
- Manage client relationships and expectations during requirements gathering.
- Collaborate with stakeholders regarding requirements development and translation into specifications.
- Support traceability from high-level needs through functional validation.
- Participate in requirements prioritization and decomposition.
- Write detailed user needs, program functions, and dependencies.
- Support development and refinement of requirements and identify gaps.
- Manage changes to baselined requirements through change control processes.
- Consolidate user stories and feedback throughout development.
- Write and review documents needed to support application release.
- Coordinate stage gate reviews including documentation packages.
- Work closely with developers and testers to ensure clear, testable requirements.
- Support business validation of functionality.
- Manage documentation for multiple applications and releases.
- Assist in maintaining concurrent project schedules and develop weekly/monthly status reports.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems, Business Administration, or related field highly preferred.
- One or more years of experience in IT as a Business Analyst and Tester, or similar roles.
- Experience facilitating meetings with business owners, technical leads, and stakeholders.
- Experience as a Scrum Master for technical team coordination preferred.
- Experience capturing business needs and developing corresponding functional solutions.
- Developed technical requirements, user stories, and mockups to address business needs.
- Executed detailed tests and documented test results.
- Experience automating tests for automation, 508 compliance, and performance testing preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office tools: Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint.
- Proficient in software development life cycle processes and JIRA.
- Demonstrated abilities as a self-starter and quick learner.
- Experience in story creation, customization, and report generation.
Desired Skills:
- Experience in a government environment.
- Experience with Java, python, or Enterprise software platforms such as Salesforce products, Microsoft Power Platform, or Appian.
- Experience using JIRA and FDA systems.
- Familiarity with Agile development practices.
- Proficiency with MS Visio.
