What a day looks like as a Counselor
Perform behavioral health services within the scope of education, training, and experience including:
- Complete comprehensive assessment and formulates a diagnostic impression through conducting client and family interviews for the development of a treatment plan.
- Prepare an individualized treatment plan to include goals, interventions, and criteria for achievement.
- Evaluate client response to treatment and modifies treatment plan as needed.
- Conduct individual and family counseling sessions with clients.
- Document counseling services in medical record that is audited by a supervisor on a regular basis to include clinical service notes, progress summaries, treatment plans, assessments, and other needed documentation to meet insurance requirements.
- Maintain regular communication verbally or in written form with client family members and other medical professionals on an as needed basis.
- Provide counseling services consistent with the established ethical standards of an LPC, LMFT, or LISW-CP in South Carolina.
- Perform other related duties as directed or assigned.
Requirements
Licensure/Certification Requirements
- Hold an active Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), or Licensed Independent Social Worker – Clinical Practice (LISW-CP) license in South Carolina.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Professional client service skills.
- Skill in written and verbal communication.
- Ability to multi-task, including skills in organizing and prioritizing tasks effectively.
- Ability to flexibly respond to changing demands.
- Ability to work effectively as a team member with other providers and other staff.
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
