The City of Greensboro’s Engineering and Inspections Department ensures that City facilities are well-maintained, safe, and efficient. We are currently seeking a dedicated and skilled Maintenance Tech (Electrical) to join our Building Maintenance Division. This role is essential in supporting the electrical needs of City facilities and ensuring that our infrastructure continues to serve residents and staff effectively.

About the Role
The Maintenance Tech (Electrical) is an entry-level position that assists and works under the supervision of an Electrical Mechanic and/or Supervisor. This position supports electrical installation, construction, troubleshooting, repairs, renovations, and maintenance of City facilities.
The successful candidate will have a working knowledge of the electrical trade, including the tools and equipment commonly used (such as hammer drills, reciprocating saws, hand band saws, multimeters, and conduit threading machines). The person in this position should have some knowledge of building and construction materials, building repairs and how mechanical equipment operates and functions.
The employee should have the ability and knowledge to learn, understand and comply with applicable local and state building and industry standards and OSHA policies and procedures. The selected applicant should have the ability to read and understand blueprints and the ability to operate a computer for their work orders; some knowledge of Card Access Systems would be a plus. This individual should be able to follow written and verbal instructions. The physical duties of the job include bending, stooping, standing, walking, kneeling, climbing ladders, pushing, pulling, reaching and lifting up to 50 lbs.

What You Bring
Minimum Qualifications:
- Valid Driver’s License.
- High School Diploma/GED with 1 to 3 years of electrical construction experience (must be indicated on the application).
- "OR" No High School Diploma/GED with 5 to 7 years of electrical construction experience (must be indicated on the application).
- Experience using electrical hand tools (i.e. Multimeters, Circuit tracers, Battery Drills and standard hand tools)..
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with other trades such as carpentry, plumbing, or HVAC.
- Experience with computers, iPads, and/or general office equipment.
