Job Statement

Verifies and receives material delivered to the dock. Stocks incoming freight and issues supplies, materials and parts to crews and contractors.  Maintains warehouse in a clean and orderly condition.   Performs inventory counts for internal controls. 

Essential Duties

1.  Counts and inspects materials for damages before signing delivery tickets.

             2.  Verifies quantity of material delivered by vendors via the packing slip.

             3.  Issues proper material to crews and contractors in a timely manner and documents the transaction.

             4.  Verifies that Material Returned to Stock (MRS) is of good quality, has proper identification prior to returning to inventory.

             5.  Utilizes barcode scanners to key in inventory transactions that updates the computer system.

6.  Maintains shelves and rack identification for material and sees that the material is labeled properly and that the material is stored in a safe manner. Maintains material locations in computer system.

 7.  Operates equipment necessary for moving material.

 8.  Sorts waste materials by type and reclaims or stores in an orderly fashion pending disposal action.

 9.  Assists crews in loading/unloading heavy material.

Additional Duties

10. Makes deliveries to job sites as required.

11. Follows procedures to maintain inventory accuracy goal and performs cycle counts.

12. Controls tool usage by complying with the tool policy approved by Huntsville Utilities management.

13. Washes forklifts and trucks and keeps them clean internally and externally.

14. Reports any needed repairs or maintenance on forklifts, cranes and trucks to the Stores Crew Leader/Supervisor for service.

15. Performs job duties in a safe and efficient manner and follows all safety rules and regulations.  Reports any safety hazards or unsafe conditions to the Stores Crew Leader/Supervisor.

16. Cleans and maintains scrap and waste container areas. Notifies Stores Specialist for pickup of containers as required.

            17. Cleans and maintains storeroom, break room, dock and yard area. 

            18. Maintains and monitors the security of the storeroom and yard.  

            19. Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Education/Training/Certifications:  High school graduate or equivalent. 

 

Experience/Skills:  Two (2) years experience in shipping, receiving or inventory control required.  Experience in a warehouse environment is preferred.  Good math skills.  ERP experienced preferred.

Additional Requirements

Equipment:  Forklift, backhoe, material handling equipment, vehicles, two-way radio, telephone, calculator and computer skills (i.e., word, excel). 

 

Physical Demands/Environmental ConditionsModerate to heavy lifting and carrying (up to 50 lbs).  Frequent bending, stooping, reaching, climbing, and walking.  Regular exposure to inclement weather.

 

Other:  Subject to emergency recall and on-call duty.  Knowledgeable of City of Huntsville and Madison County roads for field deliveries.  Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing. Valid Drivers License.
